1150GSA - BMW Plastic System or Metal Panniers..?

I've just ordered the 'city koffer' panniers from Bernie of this parish. I wanted something I can filter with for commuting, yet can still take extra gear when I go camping (at which point I'll strap tents etc to the pannier tops, and load the top box).
See it's degenerated into "my panniers are better than yours"

Yep.....................I have no interest in Zegas/Verns/Stahlkoffer/Metal Mule etc panniers

I'm getting that there are as many different panniers as different reasons for needing them!
Had my ARD panniers for 3 years 
great valueand well made,but due to u/s arms,hands i have now gone back to System panniers as they are easier to fit and take off.
but no way are they as good as top loading panniers and care has to be taken when you open them or all your gear will get wet/dirty when it lands on the deck and should you go off piste as it were then plastic mounts/panniers will never be good.
For me needs must

Best thing for all panniers and especially System's are inner bags as they make it far easier to pack and open/close. Keep the opening limilt straps in place to stop the instant ejection of contents...

got inner bags but all the odd extras end up op the deck if you don't open with care.unlike top loading pannier.

I've just bought a set of Verns and now have a set of the plastic bmw panniers with rails going if anyone's interested. £175 all in, including spare wafers to rekey the locks.

plastic bmw panniers have been known to melt, the L/H side one when working hard in soft sand, if you are not going off road or don't want to carry much go plastic.
i luv me Touratw@t ally boxes - top 5 in my list of things to have on an 1150
Uber expensive though, sadly but eventually worth it when the pain of buying them settles... has took three and a half years to wear off like!

I think i'm going down the BMW system pannier route, I have always used them since buying my first 11GS in 1996 and they've been fine
When I bought my first 11GS, there were no metal panniers.............nobody made them and TT weren't around then...........to hoodwink us onto that 'fashion' bandwagon
If I was riding a R1100/1150RT then all I would have is BMW plastic system panniers
They're easy to use, waterproof, & most of all come without those hideous panniers frames, plus with inner bags they're spot on
Pannier width is the same - 18" with the BMW system panniers fitted with Global Plastic lids
