Hello all,

Advice/help please re a set of OEM driving lights for my 1150GSA that I recently aquired. Sadly I have no fitting instructions, hoping it will not be a mare to fit them, I could probably manage without, but if anybody knows a link or can post fitting instructions - it would be greatly appreciated?

The on/off switch, it would appear, is designed to fit in a specific location on the bike, any suggestions as to the location would also be appreciated.

Many thanks

Jim

The 1150GSA ...

... didn't come with 'driving lights' as standard, but they could be an OEM option. I have a generic wiring diagram (PDF) for spotlights in general; if you want a copy send email to oblertone at yahoo dot co dot uk and I'll ping you a copy.

Thanks for the replies.

A pic(s) would be v helpful, confirmation of the location and that I have (or not) an original switch and mounting or a Heath Robinson.

Thanks.

The foglamp kit came with a wiring loom which plugged into the main loom and also provided a connection for an extra power socket in the beak area (in addition to the one which was standard on the Adv).

Here are a couple of pics of the mounts...

The switch fitted to the rear pair of bolts on the handlebar yoke - here's a pic of it on my mate's GS Lite:

You'll need a pair of bolts Part 15 (PN 32717652161) with threaded inserts to replace the rear bolts if you want to fit the switch correctly.

You can find all the part numbers etc at Max BMW's online parts fiche - look under 1150 Adventure - Lighting.

That said, they are bloody awful lights. Frighteningly expensive and very vulnerable to damage, with or without Adv crashbars (DAMHIK) - my advice would be to bung them on eBay and buy something more hardy (Migsel bar & PIAAs, for example) that will do the job better at a fraction of the price...

Mike :)
