Afternoon all, I went out on my new to me 1190 Adventure R this morning for 100 miles or so and have decided the brake and gear lever positions are set too high when the pegs are in the lower position.

I have adjusted the brake lever downwards as per the manual and wanted to do the same with the gear lever. This can only be moved one spline at a time and moving the lever anti-clockwise one spline makes it too low and it fouls on the side stand.

Has anyone else found this issue and is there an easy fix? Touratech don't do an adjustable one (as far as I can see) which would have been an ideal solution.

TIA John.

I found the gear lever marginaly too high and, like you, lowering it made it too low - 'half a spline' movement would have been spot on.

I recently fitted Pivotpegz, not soley for this reason but because I just really like them. But, because they pivot gear lever position if far lees crucial and the gear lever is now in the 'perfect position'.

If you decide to go down this route you'll find there isn't a listing for the 1190 yet but fear not as any KTM kit will fit as peg mounts are standardised across all KTM bikes.

I've got Pivotpegz on my Dakar so understand what you mean. I was toying with the idea of getting another gear lever, removing the sprung loaded 'end bit' and making up a part that sits lower and seeing how that works. It seems that the gear lever position is fine if you have the footpegs in their top position though.

Makes a mockery of the section entitled "ergonomics" in the owners manual :blast

Cheers John.

I know exactly what you mean about the half spline. Mine is just a tad too low. I've spent hours on google trying to find an adjustable shift lever for the 1190, but the best I've found was an american company that made a lever to suit the size of your foot. (Hammerhead if I remember ..)

I've asked Brad (The bloke doing the pillion pegs) if he can design something .....

I'm glad it isn't just me..... I spent ages trying to find something. I found Hammerhead and thought I was onto something but as you say, it moves the end backwards or forwards but not up or down.

I even called Touratech to see if they had something in the pipeline, it doesn't look they have,

Bugger! Spoke with Hammerhead on the phone today, and they don't do a shift lever for an 1190. It seems nobody does an after market adjustable one .... :nenau

try gilles-tooling they are just rolling out the adjustable brake/gear levers for the LC in the next few weeks, they do the official HP2-4 footpegs levers and rearsets, works of art, got a set on order from calsport

these are for the super duke

No joy - but good idea .. :thumb

Couldn't you slide a piece of thick walled tubing over the tip or have a fat tip fabricated ?

It's not that bad .... It's just that if I had the option of tweaking it by a few mm, I would. :thumb

Yes .... I do sometimes 'consciously' tilt the peg forward to help hook my boot under the lever ...
I've not properly taken it off road yet (tkc's and moto x boots) but I'm sure that the pivotpegz will really come in to their own then with big feck off clumsy boots ..

I think heating and bending will probably work but I wouldn't be keen on doing this without a spare standard one to put back on in case it all went horribly wrong.

A new lever from KTM is £72, unfortunately and perhaps not surprisingly I can't find a second hand one. The other thing I did think was that my pegs on my bike are in the lower/forward position, I think I will try them in the higher/rearward position first, this will have the effect of lowering the gear lever but not sure if it will be significantly less comfortable.

Cheapest option to try so far though
