1190r TKC 70 Tyres

TKC70's on an 1190R

Yeah no problem. I did 100 miles or so today and whilst I didn't go nuts (and it wasn't wet) initial thoughts are that they seem more than up to the job and feel as stable as the Trail Attacks.

The TKC70's on my 1190R have now done over 600 miles. I did a round trip of 480 miles today from Bedfordshire to Carmanthenshire with the plan to ride down the A1, round the M25 and along the M4 to Wales and then take single carriageway roads on the return.

I left home at 4-30am in dry weather and rode into torrential rain further west. The tyres felt great at high speed in heavy rain, they didn't feel at all skittish and were no problem when crossing over white lines or overbanding. The weather eased off as I went further west and by the time the M4 becomes the A48 the roads were drying out nicely and now that I had done a few miles on the tyres I felt more confident in braking later for roundabouts etc again without any issues.

My route back consisted of the A40 to Brecon and then the A438 to Hereford and then various A & B roads through Chipping Norton, Stow on the Wold, Buckingham and due east home. The weather was extremely changeable from bright autumn sunshine one moment to pouring down the next. I have to say the tyres generally felt as grippy as the TA2's I had on previously although in common with most riders, I don't don't think I really ride hard in the wet. The only comment I would make is that I have always suffered a lack of confidence pushing this bike in the wet due to the skinny front tyre, but I felt that previously and that is me rather than the tyres.

So all in all for me, I would say that the TKC70's work just as well as the TA2's. I am sure in an 'ultimate' test the TA2's have got to be grippier just down to the amount of rubber on the road but I don't think I am going anywhere near that limit. The tyres don't seem to be any noisier than before but the ride feels slightly more harsh than it did previously so I may try lowering the tyre pressures a little as suggested by someone else on here.

That's about it really 480 ish miles in a day in varied conditions and it was a fantastic day on a brilliant bike. Has anyone else tried these tyres?

Cheers, John.

John a great report from what sounds like a great ride. To me that is high mileage for one day. I will definitely fit the TKC70s when my TA2s wear out. I agree with not pushing it as hard in the wet. Many thanks yet again for a great report. Enjoy the bike.

Cheers
