Can anyone advise on Continental TKC 70 tyres please BMW R1250 GS te

seen this thread?

I can't comment on that tyre on a GS but I had 3 sets of them on the trot on my Africa Twin and found them superb all rounders.

I’ve had two sets on a Rninet Scrambler. One with ‘Rocks’ rear. Gratbon the road in all weathers and a bit of confidence if you venture down a gravel road.

Insert 36 and 42

I wouldn't touch standard TKC70s with a barge pole. One look at the tread pattern on the rear is enough to put anybody off. Rocks maybe, standard no.

I tried them once, one a CB500X. They lasted well but the grip wasn't great, even on a 49hp bike.

Mind you, I also dislike TA3s, which lots of bods seem to like...

I did a couple of sessions of at track day on my F800GS which was running TKC70s.
Seemed OK to me.
Also got 10,000+ out of each pair over 40,000 miles. The other half managed the same on her F800GS too (no track action)

They also worked well on dry and damp gravel roads, as most road tyres do.
I wouldn’t want to try them in sand again though.

10,000+ Really?

I doubt I could get 10,000 miles out of a tyre if I rode a Super Cub on a sponge…

Had some on my 1190, rear was fine, front was terrible. Wandered all over the place and felt weird.

Heidenau K60

I’m claiming it’s my superior throttle control 😇😁

I would go Mich Anakee Wild over TKC70 (or TKC80). Good on road and good off road unless very muddy when they struggle. Mileage good for me, 5000 from a rear on my XCo and still good although squaring off a little. I guess depends on whether you venture off road. I have been pleasantly surprised by how capable the Anakee Wild are in day to day road use.

Does your bike have an engine?

What mileage did you get out of them?

I've been using TKC70 (and Rocks, once) on my GS for quite a few years now as I find it to be an extremely good "do a bit of everything" tyre.
From memory, they manage to cover a decent amount of miles (definitely >5k miles, that is a lot for me) in acceptable shape.

The Rocks rear tyre would last significantly less than the standard 70, as expected.

Few years ago I bought some 70 Rocks before traveling to Italy as I was expecting to do slightly more gravel than my usual.
Ended up not doing a meter offroad and the entire trip was tarmac-based.
New before leaving London:

and after coming back:

This is the track from that trip and total distance covered (picture to picture :) ) of 5687km:

The standard 70 rear would generally last a decent more than that as well.
I wouldn't complain to be fair (standard TKC70 >6/7000km). I also expect squaring off on my way back to London. Inevitable on the last leg.

These are current standard 70s I have on my bike now.
Photo taken on my way back to London, this summer. This at the hotel the evening before going up via del sale and then progress towards Dijon and then London.

I think similar distance covered in km at that stage (around 5k). Slight squaring off as I did a couple of fair stretches of motorway in Italy (way down and back up) to save time to meet friends.
My main issue with the 70is is front could be a bit more communicative and cupping over time (even though the bike setup is to blame for that 99%).
