1200 adventure footpegs.

Because I would use the foot rests to get on and off my GS, I found the standard rests to be a bit small and narrow.
They dug into the arch of my foot and was a bit aware that my foot might slip off.
I picked up a pair of machined alloy plates that bolted to the original rests after removing the rubber pads.
Lot more comfortable over distance but still a bit slippy in the wet.
See there's a pair available on eBay for about £70 that look similar to the adventure with a rubber insert. Might change to them.

Not if you fit the rubbers!

That's what I did. From memory they are standard spec on the 650 Xcountry. Nippy sells them for the GSA.

I didn't get on overly well with them. Their very square edge meant getting under the gear leaver wasn't easy even when properly adjusted. I keep meaning to look and see if I can grind down the face of the original pegs so they still do their job but don't eat into my boots.

Another option is to use the standard rests as fitted to the F650/800. They are a bit wider than the 1200 ones and are a straight swap.

Was looking on eBay and there seems to be two or three different types of F650/800 foot rests. Some look very road orientated.
ie. chunky rubber types. Always wondered if K100 ones would have fitted. They look similar. Should have tried one before I sold it.
Are all the F650/800 rests comparable or are there specific years/models that are?

These are the ones I mean. They are the OE ones as on my 650, and also had fitted to my old 1200. Much better than the OE 1200 ones. I think they are the same for all 650/800 twins from 2008.

castaway foot pegs

I have a nice set of Fastaway lowered foot pegs for sale if you are interested can send pics. They have adjustable studs..
Absolute must in my view - I am 6 foot - and a really solid platform. They are off an 11 plate GS1200 ADV.

I wonder if its possible to fit some pegs that will take mountain bike pedals. I have some great platform type pedals just need some suitable pegs to hang them on.

I took seahorse's advice and picked up a pair of F800GS rests from a breaker on eBay.
He was looking for £55 but was happy to take £40. Guess they're not something in big demand. Might be now, though.
They were pretty much as new with perfect paint. Fit straight on to the R1200GS and, almost certainly, the GSA, too.
They suit me perfectly. Bit wider than standard and good grip for climbing on and off. Probably feel less vibes through my feet as well.
Can even take the rubbers off for when I hit the desert! :roll laugh
