Hi Folks,
Just bought an adventure screen for my standard 1200,unfortunately without the taller brace.
BMW want around £140  for this brace and i was wondering if anyone here had created a mod or had any ideas.

Steve

I`ve got one of those fitted to mine, its not so much a screen brace, as a mount for a GPS, once you have bought the GPS mounting block from them too (another £50ish). Could be an option Steve, if you want to fit GPS. The ADV screen will fit without the brace.:comfort

Thanks for that folks,
I understand the screen will fit without the brace but was a bit worried about it flexing.
Gadget, any chance of a picture of yours.

If BMW designed it with a brace it seems reasonable to assume it needs a brace. Maybe its buy the brace now or spend about the same to replace a broken screen later.

Fair point Andy, but at £50 the brace would be overvalued never mind £140.

Best not look at individual component prices. When I did mine I just worked on the basis that £300 inc the wings was not impossible for a good quality screen that reduced buffeting, gave pretty good weather protection, provided a perfect base for my satnav (saving about £90) and kept the bike 100% BMW rather than using a variable quality aftermarket screen.

After three years use it was worth every penny.

Back to my original point. If you don't use a brace and the screen breaks it is going to cost £100+ on a replacement and you still won't have a screen brace.
