I don't know about any of you, but I find that the sidestand on my LC (standard suspension - not lowered) doesn't have enough "forward" throw and doesn't let the bike "lean" enough (compared with the pre-LC) so I ALWAYS now park it in gear (sensible in any case) but have to be extremely careful of ground slope when it is loaded. I remember the Baron von Grmble test ride video of a few years ago when he test rode one, parked it, and it rolled off, decked and cracked the cylinder head.
Is this a common complaint (or is it just me)? and if so, is there an after-market sidestand that cures this?

Thanks

I would say mines leans over too much! Got engine protection bars fitted just in case.

Mine seemed to be too upright when it was new in 2015, but now, I’v either gotten used to it, or the bush has settled in and allows the stand to flex more. I mount the bike with it on the side stand, horse rider style, so that might have helped with the bush giving a bit.

Strange. My March 18 GS leans way over and can be a bit of a pain to get upright - I am experimenting with a low seat, which may explain this as it’s a bit more difficult to hoick up if you’re too high/too low. Either way it leans more than my F800GSA and that had a much taller seat. I always park in gear anyway as you never know!

Mine is the same as Al, so I always kick the stand forward once it's leaned over and it usually means a bit further.

Having watched helpless with a flask in one hand and hot coffee in the other as a previous bike slowly collapsed off the side stand, my bikes are always now in gear when parked. I believe I read that the LC side stand was deliberately more upright than the previous model which could be a pig to lift back off it.

Id like to do that to my Hexhead, but it's so far over i'd fall off getting on ;)

Id like it a tad more upright so i can as you do to mount unmount

Weird, mine seems perfectly fine

So does mine. And, the stand flips out as far as it will go once you pass the 90 degree from the bike point. If the suspension is in the lowest setting, it can be a little too upright sometimes. Where it is, you can jack the suspension up. This doesn't seem to be a problem with my 2017 bike in 'Auto' suspenders setting.

My sidestand is fine....now that €£%^&*@ awful centre stand, that’s a different matter! :D

Give it a try Santa, you will be surprised how easy it is to get it upright. Just put your left foot on the peg with your hands on the grips, then straighten your left leg, and at the same time cock your right leg over the seat. As then you will be way above the seat, so that the leverage you have will make getting the bike upright so much easier. Do it in one movement. I’m only 5’ 9” ( but beautiful formed )..:D
