1200 GS tank protection

have any of you guys got any tips on protecting the tank on a 1200GS? I'm starting to notice a few scratches starting to appear that I want to nip in the bud, but not sure what route to go down (tarty I know but thats how I am

Has anyone tried those transparent adhesive strips from Nippy Normans? Or is a baglux cover the way to go?

Or should I just shut up and deal with it?

Used the film on an 1150 GSA, worked well.

its just very light scratching on the 'tummy facing' part of the tank, probably from a jacket or my cover or something. Very light at the moment, but want to nip it in the bud.

Just not sure weather to go the whole baglux route. I do quite like the look of them anyway, but are a bit expensive just to stop scratches. The alternative seems to be this clear stuff for about £20 which is a bit less painful.

I've seen, and used, polishes that claim to fill light scratches. They seem to work, even if it's only temporary.

Have had this before on other bikes and used FABLON to protect the areas. You can buy it from stationery stores and cut it to the size and shape reqd. Might not be the prettiest method depending on how good you are at drawing/cutting by hand symetrical shapes but it is effective, longlasting and much cheaper than the other ways you have mentioned so far.

I bought a tank-cover from ebay for £65 delivered. Still not cheap but 20 quid less than most online vendors. It was a pig to fit but I don't intend removing it! The yellow/grey matches quite well, dunno about the other colours if that's applicable to you.

OK you have to put your hand in your pocket, I paid the £85 for a grey and blue one and as soon as I got it, a 2nd hand one was on ebay for £35!! I was sick, but very pleased with the end result.

Never have to worry about scratches and I have the option of adding the bag bag if I am short of space.

It's a win win!!

From some angles you can't even see the tank cover, I'd say it definitely looks better than a scratched tank.

Wunderlich also offers a product like the above mentioned and it works well
Used on mine since new (06) protecting against the jacket zipper.
