Had a test on 1200 yesterday (in the rain!) and was very impressed - after 10 years on KTM's I'm very tempted (must be because I've just turned 50.......)

However, I got an annoying whistling noise from as little as 20 mph - so slow I wonder if it may have been a bearing or something rather than wind noise. Didn't matter what I did with the screen or moving my head around, it was still there.

Is this normal?

thanks

Yes and no , some brand of tyres are the reason

Its probably the After Burner kicking in........

that's weird - how does a tyre cause whistling. Is it the air moving over the tread or something?

There is a noticeable noise on WC models, but more like a howl than a whistle, more noticeable when the visor is up. I think it is from the air intake (induction noise?). I used to notice it a lot more when I first got the bike, but less so now I've got used to it.

100% anakee tyres.

I have noisy Anakees which were fitted as standard on my 2014 GSA and I will shortly need to change them.
What tyres have low road noise ? I don't go off road or want to get my elbow down on roundabouts, just normal brisk riding.

Plenty of noises on the LC after riding an air cooled.
You get used to them fairly quickly.
I have Anakees 3 on my 14 R1200GSA I dont notice any noise from them.
How can you hear tyre noise over the sound of engine and wind noise?
The Anakees decent all round tyre.

Roadsmart 2. Silent ,more grip on the road, and cheapish. Excellent in the wet....

Did about 60 miles today on a brand new TE across a range of roads and through town, no annoying whistling noises and never had them on my 2013 LC - so I don't see how it can possibly be a bike issue.
