1200 GS....what's the best year ?

I might be shopping around for a GS shortly (not decided on any model, yet) and I would be interested to hear from you "proud" owners :augie on which year presents less hassles.

I may be considering a used 2005/2006 (max.) as my choice of ride. :P

Any special issues to look out for?

Well the later the better I'd say, 2006 had a new center stand, vario pannier mounts as standard and changes to the switch gear over previous models but nothing else major that I can think of other than a bit of tweeking. :thumb
 
take a wee look at the one I'm selling in the for sale section. late 2006 (07 colours), and I guarantee you won't find a cleaner one.:thumb black is by far the best colour, as its the only one that is fully colour coded with all the vario luggage fitted!
 
I've been very happy with my 2005. It has the very common issue with the battery going flat if left for more than a few days (which I get around by using an Optimate). The only other issues with it were all dealer screwups which was probably just my bad luck. I have no reason to want to swap it out for a newer one.
 
2003 was the best year.

I am very pleased with my '06.

Cost about £5500 a month ago which is about what the previous owner lost in depreciation.
i.e in two years time I could throw it away and be no worse off.

Brilliant bike and I should know, had 1150's since '01.

The biggest change (apart from the new 2008 "boomerang" facelift) was probably a move from servo assisted brakes back to regular hydraulic ones. Not sure exactly when this change occurred but have a feeling it was mid 2006.

My perception is that the non-servo ones are better (more feel and easier to control) and will cost less to fix if they go wrong .... just my opinion - others love the servo's. Ride both and decide.

Last of a model cycle would seem the best bet IMHO :nenau

So a 2007 bike (with the EWS fix applied)...
 
Got my 57 plate GS in November last year, had no problems apart from a puncture :eek: and my TPC told me it was deflating!

I think it's also dealer dependant if you have problems. I got mine from Bahnstormer, so I know from previous experience they'll bend over backwards to help even with the smallest of things :)
