So after a couple of years without a GS the chimps in my head are telling me it’s time to return to the fold. :D

I’ve decided on a GSA and have been looking at a nice secondhand 3 year old 1200 version which would suit me fine but was wondering how much better a newer 1250 might be and would it be worth the extra cost?

I had a test ride on the 1250 shift cam a couple of years ago and at the time didn’t think there was a lot of difference in the two versions.

Any constructive advice on my dilemma would be most welcome. :thumb2

1250…..you know it makes sense…

It's like night and day on the GSA, GS closer

It is a better bike, more evolution than revolution. It's smoother, faster, stuff like the hill hold and the GSAP is better (I changed from a 2018 1200 to a 2020 1250 GS). Whether the difference is enough for you is something only you can decide. I'd test ride them back to back :beerjug:

I’ve got a 1200 and can’t justify the cost to change for a 1250 (new), the difference is not huge

However, if I didn’t have either I would pay a bit extra and get the 1250 without a doubt

Never found the 1200 engine lacking on my previous 2017 1200GSA.

I like to take things easy mind!

Then that’s your answer

It’s horses for courses

Good point. Thanks. :thumb2

Get a shit can…. You will regret it otherwise….

The 1250 GSA is a bit better than a 1200GSA . The last of the 1200’s were great but the 1250 is punchier . It flys , it handles great it stops great and it looks cool in Ice grey ( my colour) I’ve had mine 2.5 years and will keep it / pay of the pcp next May . I can’t think of a better for me bike to just jump on and head to Wales / Scotland . Go 1250 :thumb:thumb plus what happened to your lovely Fat Boy ?

If you do not have a GS - I would go for the 1250 if i was in your position. Easier to resell at a later date.
However i do have a 66 plate GS so i would not upgrade to a 1250 as imho not worth the 9 to 10k cost to upgrade. I ride less than 5k miles per year.

At the end of the day it depends on what you want and how much cash you wish/happy to spend.

As with most makes now I would ensure a good warranty.

If steady is your thing it would be my choice to get a mint 1200 Tc as they are fantastic and great bike , had great touring times on mine . If it’s the 1200 lc or the 1250 lc I would go for the 1250 as it’s just a better bike , more pull and smoother and the SCam is a great upgrade .

He will be buying a new 1250 SC…. He just hasn’t got off the bus at right stop yet….
