Hi,

Has anyone got any good ideas or products they would recommend to get scuffs and scratches out of screens?

Here's what worked for me

If a deep use wet wet and dry - say 600 first if necessary then 900 - add a bit of soap to the water

Then - by hand - Solvol Autosol using a totally clean cloth - be patient and keep going - don't be tempted to use a power tool - surface gets too hot.

Follow with T cut i.e. finer than Solvol - then polish all the screen with a high quality auto polish e.g. Autoglym.

Use clean cloths every time

You will restore transparency and achieve a good shine but a faint witness mark will remain as the screen has an extremely thin 'surface' treatment which you will have removed

Good luck.

Thanks

Thanks for the advice I will give it a try. Them if all fails I will look into buying a tinted screen, or just put up with the scuffs.

Jewellers use Duraglit (I think thats how you spell it, the stuff that comes in a tin, looks like discoloured cotton wool thats used to polish silver etc.) to polish out scratches on watch faces and it works a treat. I've tried it. :thumb2
Sure it would work on a screen too.

XERAPOL

Firstly thanks for all the advice. Today I stopped in a Hein Gericke by chance and found the XERAPOL product that as soon as I saw it remembered from a bike magazine. 5 mins when I got home and it's sorted. Highly recommended.

However I think I'll get some of the jewellers product that was recommended as I have a watch with a couple of scratches.

To the person who recommended XERAPOL, I agree really good stuff.

Cheers
