1200 swing arm pivot problems

If your 1200 has been used over the winter, or in water, chances are your swingarm pivot is seized - you'd better have it checked before the warranty runs out - loads of them seized after only a few months, and it's not something that you may notice till you have to remove the swingarm.

And then you'll have a nice big bill .

If the swing arm pivot is seized, would'nt that stop the swing arm from, er ,pivoting???

Haven't heard many complaints about 12's turning into hardtails, or am I being even thicker than usual??

it means you can't get the swingarm out -


not that you'd have to do that very often, but when you do need to do it you'll be fecked -

and if it's a couple of years down the line ( when it's seized even more), it'll be your problem, when it shouldn't be, as there is a problem now -

i.e. they've been assembled dry , when they should have been lubed.

( You haven't read this here, this could drop someone right in the doo-dah )

I was going to do some preventative maintainence on the swing arm pin/pivot bearings, but there isn't any reference to it in the CD repair manual!

21 years later and I’ve found mine welded together!
