1200 v 1250

I bought a 1200RS about 8-10 weeks ago. Apart from the white fingers issue it was brilliant.

When I saw a 1250 for sale I thought that it can only be brillianter so I jumped in selling the 1200 to a friend

The 1250 looks great, has all the bells n whistles inc an Akra but it just doesn’t perform the same. I wouldn’t say it’s laggy but it doesn’t have the same instant pick up of the 1200. I tried “resetting” it following instructions from an ex bmw senior technician but I can’t feel its any better.

The 1200 was instantaneous hooliganism. The 1250 seems slightly duller, more sensible and it’s driving me mental. Any advice please? Thank you.

Buy the 1200 back from your mate,hope this helps.
Ps ive had my 1200 nine years this September and have no plans to change it.

when was the last service and who did it? What is the mileage? Is the Akra the correct one or some random job from Aliexpress?

until recently I had the R1200RS and rode several 1250 bikes in GS & RS versions as service loaners. None seemed deficient in performance. It was the changes to the suspension that I was not so keen on, and the silly colour TV as a display. Oh, and the lack of lupin blue.

Get it serviced by a dealer or decent independent to make sure it is set up correctly. It might be as simple as a dirty air filter or out of balance throttle bodies.

i would have your 1250 checked out by a bmw main dealer i have the 2023 ra 1250 and can definatley say the performance is brilliant as is the mpg

I haven't ridden the 1200 and 1250 RS' back to back but FWIW I noticed a positive difference in the 1250GS compared to the 1200 (mid range flat spot gone and pulled harder to the redline) when I changed in 2020 and swapping from my 1250GS to the 1250RS 18 months ago the RS seemed far more connected if that makes sense so as others have said what you've experienced isn't the norm?

I have a late 1200 GS. I've ridden 1250 GS a few times back-to-back and can barely tell a difference. Having almost (to me) undetected power difference I am still on my 1200.... I did notice the 1250s I rode were less pleasant at 70-75 mph cruising on the M6.... All IMO of course

I never jnderstood why they ditched that colour option. The Wanzers have gone back to letting you only have certain things with certain colours now too on the 1300. I was able to spec my 1250RS SE with the motorrad colours, now if you want that colour option you can only have it with the "performance" pack whatever that is which adds over £3k to the price and limits what other options you can add to it. I tried it the other day and quickly got to over £20k so not for me ta.

I think if the Lotto numbers camefant in...... I would order a Twipple Black and spec it up.

Fantastic lookin machine is the new 1300......but am I right in thinking that they have made it less practical (particularly pillion space)

there's a video review in the new R1300RS section. The Romanian vlogger claims he is not detecting any difference in the riding position but others have said it is sportier, more lean forward. Only one way to tell ...
