12000 mile service

Hello fella`s, about to take the 12 plate 1200 GS in for the 12000 mile service next week. would like an idea of costs any one taken theirs in lately.

Regardless of cost, make sure you have the following things checked at your 12.000 miles service:

I have just done the 12k service at 11900m on my 2 year old ADV used original filters etc Castrol oil as per BMW spec and used the REPROM step by step instructions spent most of the day going through each task double checking everything.

I have spent a few pound on the extra tools required GS911 Coil stick puller oil filter tool plus a twinmax and should soon recoup this in saved service costs over the coming years.

I printed out the BMW service check list and filled ticked of each task its nice knowing its all been done correctly its the first time I have done the service on this bike been dealer service until now.

When I dropped the FD oil I was quite supprised it was black and dirty yet has been changed twice once at 600 miles and again at 7400 miles by main dealers I will run it another few hundred miles and change again is this normal ?

The gear box oil was clear valves all within spec throttle sync fine and plugs looked OK but changed anyway

Compared to most Jap 4s the servicing is straight forward and no problem and its now ready for 16 days around Europe next month.
