1200Adv panniers

I'll do this tomorrow - but don't tell me about the state of my garden
.

I've done it tonight instead. As you can see I've fitted the new BMW (Akroprovic) Sports Silencer. This gives plenty gap between the LHS pannier and the silencer. I got the alternative bracket for mounting the silencer from KiwiBob in Germany and bent this so there is no deviation in the silencer position. I had the silver mounts powder coated black to match the frame of the Adv model. I'm happy with the results but the exhaust is directly on part of the mounting frame. No prolem with this as it's already black - although the paint will melt as I have removed the cat with a Remus header.

Hpoe this helps. :)

nice job wil, the silencer is news to me - price? was it part of your spec? and is there the usual route of air-intakes, air filter and chip along with it? - nice paving by the way

This a straight replacement silencer from your BMW dealer - there's a thread or two on it. No chips or air filters etc. I wanted the outlet of the exhaust to be further back as the standard exhaust melted my oil canister on my last GS in Croatia last year. I suspect that this was caused by turbulence due to high speeds for quite long periods. The oil container shield that you can see worked just fine - I may not need it with the new silencer outlet being further back. I could have put it on the other pannier I suppose, but I must have had my reasons at the time.

I am booked in for a dyno session next week to check the fuelling as I want to be sure that all is OK with the Remus header fitted. I will post the results when I know them. :thumb

Your seeing the best bit of the paving in the photo :)

Cheers, had a look around - that's a beautiful can alright - always fancied an akropovic and that etching is spot-on over the usual label. Shame they don't offer it as a part of the original spec. 3 months before the bike arrives and I'm now already eyeing up mods!

I personally was most impressed with the tune the standard can played on the new ADV, unlike my previous 1150 ADV. It definately has regained the traditional twin sound again.
