Sat on the ADV, love the look, who else like me would have one if the standover height was the same as a 1200GS. Is anyone going to modify to lower...................... who really needs the longer suspension travel on the front forks???

I sat on one yesterday at SPC, I really really want one, but with only a 29 in inside leg i could only get the very tips of my boots down, would not be funny in the wind or off road!!

MCN said there is going to be a low seat available soon??. :thumb

if not?, sm wheels,,short shocks and knife to seat foam??, Ho forgot the sidecar outfit..

I tried out my low 12GS seat on the 12GSA. Recently I've been riding the 12GS with the normal seat in the highest position (to get used to tip toeing), and the low seat on the 12GSA was the same height or slightly lower.

I'm partially heighted (5'8") with inside seam of 29-31".

Cooper Reading put a low 1200GS seat on the Adv for a guy with shortish legs to try out (he was about 5'9") . He easily had both feet down with the rear preload in the middle position.

Yep tried one in rydales Cardiff today with gs low seat fitted, 29 inch inside leg and pre-load on medium setting, height was about the same as my standard 1200gs with original seat in low position. Test ride on Monday-divorce tuesday?

I sat on it today at Ocean in Plymouth. I'm just under 6' and it was a little high but it was the width that threw me. Two up, slow in traffic with a full tank may take some getting used to. I test one next week and have the option for a June delivery.
Anyone else worried by weight or am I being a big girl's blouse?

I can see your buttons from here. :P

test ride

Yes I know there is a low seat option.......the thing is that with a 29" inside leg(on a good day) holding a two up fully laden bike is never fun and off road a dab is not easy !!! I am hoping that my Technoflex suspension (the rear shock is about 1/2" shorter than standard rear shock makes a huge difference) can be fitted to the ADV along with all my other trick stuff and I wont need stilts to get on !! I'll be looking to sell my 1200 back end of this year and go for the ADV. If i'm not happy then i'll just have to suffer another brilliant standard 1200 :D

Matkat you seen the new low seat from touratech extra 20 mm below the OEM low seat? could be cheaper option i did work out own low but have forgotten now.

"Stylish seat modules for the R1200 GS. The coloured piping perfectly matches the motorbike's paintwork. It provides almost the same features and riding comfort as the comfortable LDC seat 044-1010.
Te "extra low" version cannot be adjusted and is another 20 mm lower than the original "low" BMW seat."

1200 ADV seat height

Well the seat height has had me worried for a while as i am only 5'-7" with 29 " inside leg

however when i picked my new GS ADV up today !!! :D i was pleasantly surprised to find that i can just about fit with the standard seat in its low setting although i do have to slide over when i stop at the lights to get some decent contact with the ground

I also have a GS low seat ( just in case !!) and have tried that as well and whilst being lower it is also wider ( and less comfy ) so still leaving me on tip toes a bit

i think the solution might be to get an inch taken off the padding of the standard ADV seat ( there is plenty there ) but i need some more miles to finaly decide

only 114 miles so far :bounce1

so lets hope for some decent weather tomorrow

Chris

PLEASE PLEASE stop saying that shorties can fit on this, i looked at one in vines today, and spc 3 days ago, i keep being drawn to it and telling myself no its too tall, really it is, no put the cheque book away its too big,
oh who am i trying to kid, i want one, the 'normal' 12 looks far too skinny in comparison

29 inch
Sat on the one at SPC with the basic low seat ,
no problem touching the floor but the suspension was at it's lowest
setting,
my basic handles poorly at this setting so would be interested in how other
shorties get on ;)
