My Beemer is used every day for work and it suprised me that there was NO WARNING before it went kaputt! Usually you expect a bit of inconsistent starting etc.

Also it begs the question as to what's the point of the battery warning indicator on the dash??? In this case it's been absolutely no use whatsoever! :augie

err cos it's not a "battery warning" light but an "alternator not charging, so battery soon be flat " light....;)

There was a rash of bad batterys going 'round on a lot of new bikes in '05 through '07. My '07 was also a victim.
Yep...absolutly no warning of up coming failure. They just stop dead in their tracks. Happened to me as I stopped on the side of the road to photograph.
Went to leave 5 minutes later...Bingo..Dead As A Doorknob....
Dash board displayed the EWS message and the starter did 1 or 2 clicks before all was quiet.
A jump from an auto got me home. Dealer replaced battery under warranty....all is good 14 months later.

Had similar problems with standard battery. Switched to an Odessey and the bike will stand for weeks and still start straight away. A bit expensive but a lot less hassle than being stranded.
