Is the factory wired gps socket on the 1200GS (the one near the headstock) meant to power off with the ignition? Mine seems to stay live (if i stick the GPS in the cradle an hour or so after leaving the bike it shows its still connected to external power)... or is there a special way to turn it on / off.

Thanks

My factory wired Navigator 2 through that socket turns off with the CANBUS after 30 seconds when the key is removed. I suspect yours may be wired differently to standard.

It's supposed to switch off within about 60 seconds of the ignition being turned off. There is/was an issue with the software having to be updated to ensure this happened.

Mine stayed on indefinately until the dealer loaded new software.

I believe it's been discussed at length elsewhere here.....

Ah ok thanks i'll pop to dealers this week and get it sorted!
Dutch, you can ignore the email i sent to you then (at motorrad concepts) about the cable / socket, as you've answered it here

was this the thread you were thinking of?

Its an intermittent problem on mine, sometimes it switches of, and other times it doesnt. Plus, when i start the bike the quest powers off and then wont run on bike power through the gps socket. I'll have a word with the dealers this week and see if it needs a software update.
