just thought you might like to see my pain... (in the wallet)

i needed a stiff drink after this happened at 70mph in fast lane of m4 (honest officer):beer:

That is not a pretty sight, hope you got to the hard shoulder safely, it must have gone with quite a bang. Is it just the piston or is the cylinder head a goner as well?
 
:eek::eek: That's fooked it , it's good you stepped of the bike and wasn't thrown off of it ..

Head mashed too guessing con rod and crank busted too.
 
Cylinder head would fix, but:

Probably cheaper to buy a second hand one.
If bore is undamaged, it's a relatively cheap repair at only a piston and head.

If this is the engine I think it is it also had R/H side damage - how's things going Craig :D

Good thanks Steptoe. still no indication on why this happened however we do think the left side has been apart before. some torx bolts mixed with allen bolts in wrong places and some lose bolts inside. :confused:

a slipped cam might do that damage......"piston, meet the valves!"
