Decided to put the Touratech oil cooler grill on today. Had just put the SW-Motech bars on, so thought I would continue by doing the grill.

In order to get the grill onto the oil cooler you need to slacken the oil cooler off a little in order to tilt it forward. It was only when I was tightening things up that I noticed that the oil cooler seemed a little lopsided and on the left-hand side was actually touching the frame bar that the beak attaches to. Looking at things it appears that this was touching even before I began fitting the grill.

I checked that I'd done things up properly, seemed OK. Methinks I've got an oil cooler that isn't fitted centrally. Anyone else done similar and noticed same? (Just when I thought, nothing wrong with this little puppy!) Doesn't look as though you could do any mod to 'move things over a bit'. Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

It's been mentioned before, they are a little off centre, and on some bikes they are more wonky than on others.

If it's actually rubbing on the frame, I would insist that your dealer notes the fact in case it causes trouble at a later date, when the warranty is up. But I have never heard of anyone having an actual problem due to this particular wonkiness :)

Thanks for this mouse. I kept thinking that radiator must be 'lopsided' by design because of the position of the fittings for the screws. Just weird that I didn't notice it before. Trouble is, now I have noticed it - it stands out a mile! It must have only "just" be touching the frame. I've just popped in a little bit of rubber just to absorb any 'rub'. But I will mention this to the dealer.

While I'm on the subject - the nuts on the cooler bolts seem to be made of some soft metal - do these nuts have a special name?

Thanks in advance.
