I'm a compulsive bike buyer looking for something to keep for a change.
I'm on my 5th bike in the past year and the longest I've ever had a bike for was 2 yrs.....it was a GS.

I've been offered a "56" plate 1200s with 1500 miles on it for £6900, which seems pretty good.

I'd almost made my mind up when I saw two bikes yesterday - an "05" 1200GS with 8k miles on it and a "55" plate ST1300 with 11k miles on it, either one would cost me £7k.

The Pan tempted me because it had every possible extra on it and my mate is a Honda mechanic therefore cheap servicing. However I really liked my 1150 apart from the weight fully loaded. The 1100S I changed it for wasn't as much fun.

I usually do a few weekends away each year plus a european trip, and if I'm honest whatever I buy gets treated like a sports bike but I like comfort too.

Anyone had both the S and the GS than can give me a comparison?

Cheers, Iain.

Iain.. not owned either, but have ridden both. If I were to have another rocketship type bike it would without doubt be the K12 S.. awsomely capable fast bike that handles , and is comfortable as well...

If I was doing continental trips or indeed weekends away it would be the 12
GS if it was the choice between the two...

Much more on the luggage carrying front in the GS.. and probably more pillion friendly on long trips too...

Personal choice will be the decider

Mate....

just had exactly the same dilemma two weeks ago!

A 1200 GS and a 1200S ...both in OCEAN Plymouth.

Saw the 1200S racing at Le Mans and it was fantastic. Sounded gorgeous and I think it's a great looking bike.

But I commute 140 miles a day....all year round. So, I guess it was a case of head and heart. Heart said buy the 1200S....but head said it had to be the GS ....with the luggage and all the bonus's that go with GS riding.

So...difficult one really.
