i've just got an 07 gs. the thing is both mirrors are loose and rattle like a bustard
has anybody else come across this and has anybody worked out a good fix (yeah i know, buy 2 newuns you tight git) but anyway short of buying new ones any miraculous cures on offer?

Its just the glass rattling in the surround. Wee drop of superglue into the bottom of the surround sees it ride up by capillary action and solve it. Just be accurate/sparing with it or it will make a mess....

Had one replaced under warranty. Guess what the other one has started but bike out of warranty. Was thinking of putting a little bit of supa glue on the edge of the mirror

was thinking the superglue route but i'm not the neatest dude around when it comes to this kind of thing. superglue everywhere :blast
will give the suggestion to use capilliary action to spread the glue around a go i think.

cheers

Mine were replaced under warranty during a service without me asking, presumably for this reason. Others have been known to drill a small hole in the back of the mirror casing and fill it with silicone sealant. Superglue sounds messy and as it's brittle when dry it'll probably come loose again at some point.

It's messy if you are a muppet and put too much on with little accuracy.
Oddly its actually designed for gluing things, hence mine have stayed put for about 20K+ miles of backroad riding with many jumps, bumps and wheelies.

My 57 plate GS mirrors started rattling on a trip across the North of France, really annoying. Bought a small tube of clear silicone, and neatly applied it all the way round the edge, damp cloth to wipe the excess off and left to dry. Absolutley perfect. On return took bike for service and mentioned it, they kindly replaced the mirrors and you betcha same thing happened agan. Applied silicone again and just left it at that, did not bother replacing them again.
