Does anyone know of any companies in or close to Surrey that can re-upholster my seat? I need to make it more comfortable for long journeys, and take some padding out so its easier to touch the ground. As it's a 30 year GS, I dont want to change the actual seat, as I want to keep the stock red seat. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Not exactly surrey (huddersfield in fact!) but many people swear by him. I understand that if you prebook he'll do what you want while you wait. Take the missus, over night stay in a pub somewhere, nice route through oxfordshire and the Peaks ....... You could make a nice weekend of it.. :thumb2

I have used Tony Archer and know many others who have, top quality work, very reasonable prices.

He will do the work via the post, or go visit the guy, he did my ZZR seat in about 3 hours, we went up early and got there before 10.00, went into town and did some shopping / had coffee and it was done when we returned.

You will need to book in for a visit, or call him and discuss what you want and use couriers.

Well worth it for the end result.

THanks chaps. I thought there was someone over towards Brands Hatch that does this sort of work?

Ummmmm, thats not a million miles from me, but I don't know of anybody there off the top of my head. I'll ask around ... ! :thumb

Telephone before you visit to make sure he's there. I didn't and decided to go for a ride to see him and talk it through and of course, he wasn't there. I still had a ride out on a nice sunny day.

Also, be prepared for a bit of gravelly off roading when you do visit. I pulled into the business' location and nearly dropped the bike because the road is laid in those bit stones that should be compacted down but aren't.

There is also someone in Eynsford who is reported to be good but don't know who it is; maybe some searching is required.

Great, thanks. Are they any good?:nenau

I had my GSA seat reshaped by Lee at Viking Vinyl, with a gel layer added over the entire seat area and then thin comfort foam padding over that, then the original cover refitted to give a stock look.

After a 20 miles test ride I wasn't 100% sure so went back and he repeated the reshaping to my satisfaction. The seat was made more narrow in the middle due to my relatively short inside leg measurement, less sloping forwards on the main pad area, packed out the frontal seat area e.g the seat under my ball sack, to give better support.

Total cost £95, a great increase in comfort yet the bike remains standard looking just like I wanted it.

Great, that's the sort of info I was looking for!:thumb

Just found a label under my seat with the following details

Custom MotorCycle Seats, Ross Hunter, www.motorbike-seats.co.uk in Coventry.

Label seems a little old, and was there when I bought the bike so can't vouch for them, other than my seats OK, and I assume by presence of label that they did something to mine in a previous life.
