1200gs tank mod

Most people tend to use this section to introduce themselves, then they get welcomed by all and sundry to the nut house. Then they read the FAQ's and learn to use the search button above.

So, Hi Barkin,
welcome to the nut house, have you read the FAQ's and learned how to use the search button above.

Just downloaded and read that - clear and concise.

What stops you from removing the filler neck completely to drill the holes? Is it just the overflow pipe?

There is some hard piping that stops you removing the neck completely. Its fairly easy to drill the neck in-situ, just take care to avoid swarf getting into the tank.

Good luck :)

Well

..............I was going to try this mod.Had instructions to hand all nice and sharp drill bits ready, but foiled at the first hurdle.
Started undoing the bolts around the cap....all going well until I got to the last one (typical). The last bolt loosened but did not come out - just kept turning. It did tighten up again when I thought better of going any further.
I am sure someone will suggest a nice and easy solution in order for me to enjoy the extra milage this mod offers !!!! :nenau

Thanks and Merry Xmas
Steve

Sounds like the captive threaded insert that's moulded into the tank is fekked....and is slipping around.......

Get the dealer to swap the tank under warranty ten carry out the mod!!

Seasons Greetings
