Hi,

Just coming up to a change of tyres.
A couple of months ago there was a review on this site which put Mitchelin Pilot Road tyres at the No. 1 spot.
Has anyone used them. Opinions/experiences would be most welcome please.

Mike

I like rubber tires.:thumb2

I had Anakees which I liked and now have the TKC's.

Me too.

I moved to TKCs for off roading, liked them and haven't gone back.

The Anakees were great but I had three punctures in two rears. Never worked out if it was the tyres or just coincidence :nenau But whilst riding the same roads and doing the same job I've never had a puncture on any other tyres on any other bike.

Is it me? :mmmm

I have Anakees and have had no problems with grip in the wet or dry. Also they look the part rather than a purely road based tread pattern. Found that for me they run best at 2.6R and 2.3F.

When time for change I will go for Anakee II's

Always used anakees until I switched to road tyres, big improvement!

I'm on my second set of Mich pilot 2's (the front is a pilot 1 as they don't yet do a 2 in that size, at least when I last looked they didn't).

If you do a lot of miles they are brilliant as they'll do double the milage of an Anakee. Wet grip is fantastic, I've not had the ABS kick in even with very hard braking; it's unreal when the road is really wet, they just grip like it was dry.

You can scrape the iron-work in bends in the dry but there's not much feedback about how much you could push them, though I've never had either end let go.

Not tried Bridgestones but probably won't take the gamble as I'm well pleased with the Mich

Had Tourances on from new and they were fine but after 3 rear punctures changed to Conti Trial Attacks.

Like the Conti's more.

Battle wings = rim protectors

I have Bridgestone battle Wings fitted to my 2008 they came as standard equipment and are rubbish on the road. I have had the back step out under power a number of times without using all the power. I am considering changing to Pilot roads. The bridgestones are so bad I am considering changing them before they wear out.

I've recently gone to Conti Road Attacks after using Bridgestone 020's for the last couple of years. They were a lot cheaper than 020's and are certainly as good grip wet or dry, only done about 3000 mls so far but they look to be good for several thousand more. I can't comment on off road use as I'm mainly on tarmac these days.

Strange that... I felt that way about the Anakees that were on my 1200 and changed them at just over 1000 miles to Battle wings which I love.
My Adventure came with 'Panic-ees' which I got the dealer to change to my part worn Battle wings...

The back still has some life left in it but I picked up a nail so will be looking for a new one ASAP.

Loved Road Attacks, but they squared off quickly on a long motorway tour. Now on Trail Attacks and they're good too. Just ordered BT020(F)/BT021(R) combination, and I'm hoping the rear will last longer. (Had BT020s on the 1150 and thought they were fine.)

would never use Michelin tyres on a bike (again). They give way with no warning, so the first you know about it is when you are on your arse.....And I despise their tactics on road racing as they have done their damdest to ruin the sport for years. rant over.

Now on Conti Trail Attacks after Bridgestone Battlewings, I find them a significant improvement. Now done 6,000 miles on them and perhaps half worn, they certainly took a lot longer before they started to square off (and they've hardly done that much so far) much better in the wet than the Bridgestones.

:boobies :boobies :boobies

Battlewings - cr@p. No confidence in them at all, but they did last along time (6500miles rear).
Now on 020 front/021 rear which are great overall for grip but fidget a bit on ridged surfaces. The rear is wearing real quick though and they are expensive.
I think that the lack of feedback at the front is more about the forks than the tyres.
Do Dunlop now do a dual compound rear??

Another vote for conti's:thumb

I managed to squeeze just over 11,000 miles out my original Bridgestone Trailwings - but I've just ordered a pair of Conti-Trail Attacks on the basis of posts here and also a couple of guys I know who also have them on their GS's.

I'll know in about a week if they were a good choice, though I don't expect them to last as long as the set I have on now...not sure what this says about my riding style though.

After a couple of sets of Tourances I switched to Conti Road Attacks - and think they're superb. Tourances/any dual purpose tyres are such a compromise when compared to a full road tyre.

I have found the Conti's to have better grip in wet and dry, better feel, and much more confidence inspiring. I ride my bike just like a sports bike and have never got a long life out of any tyre, but still got about 3500 from my last rear conti.

I'm thinking of trying the 020/021 combi next, having read some good reviews.

I use Metzeler roadtec Z6 for the road and karoo for off road.
I used Battlewings before and the roadtec is significant improvement in terms of a grip and confidents. (Continetal has been not available regularity at Israel)
