T.W.O. mag for July has a feature with the 1200GS, 650GS, plus a 'big' n 'little' KTM.

An reasonably interesting read with various plus's and minus's.

Best "quote" for the superior 650?

You don't have to think too hard about riding it

Which is er, wotsit, you know, dead good and just as thingy, yer know... just as well. Der!:redbone

Well now! Seeing as :
- they're obviously crotch-rocket fans and none of the bikes was anywhere near 200bhp

- and they quite clearly hadn't recognised the superior all-round qualities of the 650 Beemer

- nor did they appreciate that the '04 650 is a bit, well, sluggish compared with the single spark version (especially when it has a trick exhaust -wot, me! Biased?? Up yer chuff mate!:darth )

BOTTOM LINE : 1 vote out of 4 for the 1200 with the funny sticky out cylinders but 30kg lighter than the lardy leven-fifty.
2 votes out of 4 for the KTM 950 - hooligan element obviously got to them here.
1 vote out of 4 for the KTM 640 -sympathy vote.

Soooo, seems quite clear to me, they all obviously saw the 650 Beemer as "THE machine to have" but were just too 'middle of the road, namby-pamby' to come clean and admit it. All 4 so-called journalists will have written their reports along the lines of "what the audience want to hear" but will then have gone out and placed their orders for the stonkin' 650 BM (only the '03 version!).

Obvious to me!

I've stopped reading that sort of stuff.....really...I'm just totally not interested........

I love what i've got, it does what i want up to and way above my ability on it, so until/if I ever get to push that boundary, or if i find a fault in it that i can't get round, I'm happy........

Hmmmm..ok, i'll rethink that statement....I have a second hand fairly well sorted DRZ400 as well, so i feel satisfied......i can do any green lanes that i want to and i'm limited by ME not the DRZ....and the same applies to my ADV....121 mph is plenty fast enough thank you, i've no complaints about comfort, buffetting or noise anymore and it's superb two-up.......so sod these silly rag-selling reports, sod the whore reporters trying to sell the latest fastest noisiest bit of plastic coated crap......

I'm happy with what i have, and i'll carry on with it until I'm not......

sorry, in one of those moods i'm afraid......but :GS:GS:GS:GS'em!!

Bang on Fanum!

My bike's only got 1 cylinder and it doesn't even red-line at 17,000 rpm! Bugger - hardly worth getting it out then is it!!! Hmmmm!!

I`ve put this on another thread in t`virtual pub,but did you see the prat doing a burn up in a field on the 1200gs,very foolish:mad:

But Fanum, they get quicker!

Mine, at 18000km(11200 miles), just made 125mph (on the GPS), you should have seen the look of the kid on the stripped down Fireblade when he looked over his shoulder, the twat had taken his mirrors off , and saw me, a big fat bastard on a big fat bike, smiling like a Cheshire cat, about to swoop past him, it was, as they say... Priceless:D

Cheer up mate, you've got the best bike in the world, and it's in the best colour:beerjug:
