1200GS v 800GS

Here's a couple to keep you going. :thu

Is Gramps 7ft tall is that a kids bike:eek:

it's got a lot of sticky out bits and pipes around the engine and IMO looked built down to a price

Although it does appear to be sans two fairly critical, and very large sticky out bits :augie :D

As an aside, before I bought my first GS, I was really concerned about the position of the TPS, seemed very vulnerable, especially as I was buying for overlanding. You never hear of it getting damaged though.... and mine never did.

The thing that defines the GS for me is the boxer engine and the suspension. Take those unique characteristics away and I probably wouldn't own a BMW.

Different bike for different purposes. Pointless discussing why the 800 doesn't have a shaft etc because it was not built to replicate the boxers
I thinks the 800 will be a real winner in OZ where there are long distances to cover(twin much better than a thumper) and lots of crap roads to have fun on:thumb.
Dillema for me is that the 12GS, which I love, can do most of that too - some bits probably not as well (dirt) but some better (twisty tar).
Decisions, decisions. I think the bonding factor on a test ride for the 800 will be the decider for me.
Either way it is great to have the choice.:clap
