1200GSA extended warranty option - any opinions?

As the extended warranty is not offered by BMW but underwritten by an insurance company, does anyone have any knowledge how reluctant, or not they are to honour any claims? Particularly as BMW dealers are, whilst the vehicle is under the manufacturers warranty in my experience extremely helpful.

If it is covered by the policy the insurer will pay and promptly.

I have the extended waranty.I think it is fair to say that I have had more work done since the origonal warranty ran out than before. So far the claims process seems the same.I tell SSB I have a problem they book it in or recieve it from Mondial,do the work and return it to me.No hassle or worries, but then it is SSB,Thats Southport Super Bikes, and IMHO are brilliant:thumb

I have just paid the £310 for the years extra warranty on my 06 12GS- problems to date EWS and fuel relay- this thread has made me think- I would never have considered paying for an extended warranty on a japanese bike. All the tales of failures and problems have made me ultra cautious + BMW's cavalier attitude to safety issues - like the bike cutting out on the M6- really has dented my confidence in the GS

Theres not many Japanese bikes or owners that put the high mileages on there bikes, obviously there are exceptions.
Ive put 8000 on the GSA without any breakdowns but its out of warranty in Feb so will definately look at insurance just for peace of mind.
Like all insurance its a waste of money till you need it,if I remember correctly a couple had to sell their house after their Son had a Ski'ing accident and had to be flown home by private jet, all for £60 Winter Sport Insurance.
