What's your view on the cross-piece (not sure of its correct technical term) on the GSA handlebars ?. Is it an important safety feature that add's extra bracing & rigidity to the bars for off-roading, is it just "decorative, or both ?

Has anybody removed theirs to give a bit more room for a tankbag ?.

Cheers

John

They don't have one on the 08 model, they say it stops the vibration in the bars, but I think the bars are shaped a little different on the 08's.

IMHO - I would not risk removing the centre spar. To get more room I would suggest that you have a search on the forum for other bars that would fit.

IIRC the 08 has flatter bars, but risers are standard.

cross brace may help prevent bending the bars if the bike falls over when parked, much faster than that, and bent bars will be the least of your problems IMO.

Mines an 06 and took it off as soon as I brought it to get the take bag clearance...don't get any vibrations.

It's for rough and tumble strength for them there off road types you.....
