Just got back from a 600 mile charidee ride for sports relief and found I have a crack top to bottom on the headlight glass on my 1200 GSA. Got a quote for the part which is frightening enough without labour. Does anyone have any experience of changing the unit. It looks to be held in place by a Torx head screw on either side and also retained by the height adjuster at the bottom. I can wield a spanner OK, just wondered if anyone had changed one and could share any hints/tips.

Also see my other post on FS&W asking if by chance, anyone would have a second hand unit going begging

Cheers all

Simon

Its very easy. Undo the Torx screws at either side, disconnect the plugs at the back of the unit and pull it forward. You'll then have to change out the instrument cluster, put it on the new light pod, put your lightbulbs in, then re-install.

I only know as I had it all apart to do the HiD upgrade.

Well thats the good news then, Labour charge avoided, just need to try and locate a second hand unit now.

Am I right in thinking to release the instrument panel, there are just 2 circlip type thingy's and a small philips screw????

Thanks for the pointer, very much appreciated

When I'm back at my other PC I'll do a screen dump of the manual which should explain things. The only tricky thing is releasing the plugs without letting the little metal spring clips ping to the far end of your garage :D
