Sorry to ask a daft question but I am now completely confused.

I have a 2005GS, owned from new, which has a BMW high seat. This is not the standard seat on a high setting but a BMW accessory part.

Being thoroughly happy with my GS (yes, it's true, some of us are), I would like to change it for a GSA, probably a 2008/9 one however being 6'5" I want 'a high seat' to give me a large peg - seat height.

I have asked at my dealers and they said, the GSA is higher than the GS on it's highest setting, but I know the suspension is higher on the GSA.

What's the situation, is the peg-seat dimension going to be less on a GSA than my GS with high seat?

Can anyone explain please?

Rather than worrying about millimetres why not go to the dealers, sit on a GSA and see how it suits you?

By rights, being the shotarse I am I shouldn't fit on a GSA but I do and, apart from the odd off camber stop, it's fine.

Because a purchase of several grand is best entered into with a bit of thought & research.

I don't think that GS's have a "high" seat, just normal and low. And GSA seats are "higher" than normal GS seats because they have more padding; IIRC the difference is 2", but I could be mistaken.

Indeed, which is why your best bet is going and sitting on one.

Take a tape measure if you must.

GS's do indeed have a high seat, as I had one on my old one. They do, or at least did, the standard, low and high.

Smalsey I don't think you need to worry, I'm 6'4" and the seat-peg distance is fine for me. As you'll gather from my initial sentence I had the GS with a high seat set in the high position, and now have the GSA with a standard seat set to high and it's fine :thumb2
