Ok New here don’t bite my head off!

Not new to BMW bikes had

GS1150/GS1200 and GSA1200 , 90 00 miles covered in total across the 3

Just picked up 10 days ago a 1200GSA LC . now covered 1700 miles

During the Run in period after the first 120 miles most of which were motorway.

I called the dealer to inform him of my problem with the 1st gear grating and clunking.

They said they would check it out at the first service. No Fault Found!

Ok I thought it must be me!

A further 1000 plus miles with the problem still present

I returned the bike to the dealer for further investigation. I have to say they were very helpful

I am aware of the 2013 clutch issue

This has the same characteristics of a dragging clutch

Has anyone on here had the same problem?

Does it Drag from cold then free up from warm ? The Demo bike I tried was a bit reluctant to go into neutral but a good stamp on the lever and gearchange was fine , just had to be more firm than the TC . Get mine Friday :D

This one seems to get worse when getting hotter. selecting newt was not a problem.
second gear sometimes gives a clater.
From standstill not always the bike would crunch in ,and surge forward when selecting first
other times it would do as above and stall

That does not sound good . I'd drop it back

Unfit for purpose......etc etc :blast

Whatever you do, log it in writing at every stage so you have a record of it all.......if it goes in to the dealer's (which it sounds like it really ought to) ask them to put what they think in writing :)

Sad you're having the problem......a new bike should be a joy and a thrill, not a fekking ballache accompanied by being fobbed off with "They all do that Sir" :(

Wow 1700 miles in 10 days, I need to get out more.

That was my first thought! Top man for getting out and enjoying the bike, sorry to hear about the issues and hope you get them resolved.

Well my GSA is fine

Goes into neutral - no issues.

Must just be me then.

Mine goes into neutral fine

When you have the clutch fully in (adjuster on no 4 , not that this should make any difference)

Lightly selecting first you can hear the gears and the dogs grating

Surprisingly I was advised the demonstrator does the same!

This just is not right

I had a ride on a 1000 versy at the weekend. It clunked into first,as per Jap bike, but neutral was a little hard to find. I put this down to low mileage, never in a million years did it feel like it would stall. I,am afraid yours does sound poorly. All the best with the dealers:thumb2

Update! The bike has been at the dealers for a few days. Some head honcho is coming to test pilot it tomorrow to make a verdict.

Hope you get some good news, if bmw are still working on a fix for these problems they must find it soon, it's been a year!!

Hopefully just needs the lever adjusting a click or two!

Hope the OP gets it all resolved. My 2013 LC GS was a very early build bike, and had the draggy clutch and massively clunky gearbox. My 2014 GSA though is loads better - still clunks a bit into first, but this is just like my previous TC GSA, not like the LC GS at all. 2014 bike also much easier to find neutral. That all said, I've only had the new bike since 14 March, and I've only done about 300m so obv still very early days. But initial signs are that the 2014 is a much more sorted beast than the 2013, for me at least.
