1200GSA...........Paris Show

i will be there a week on wednesday, thank god for ryanair, it work,s out cheaper for me to fly to paris and see the show than it does to go to that pile of over expensive sh**e that is the nec so i will definately be heading straight for the bmw stand . somehow i do not think that bmw would go to all the trouble and expense of developing the hp2 and then not use any of what they have come up with on their other machines , photoshop or not, i will see for myself at the show .

... we were dissapointed with the 1200...too light .... not enough road presence, perhaps even betraying a few aspects of what we see as the 'GS heritage' and over designed in a fussy prissy sort of way.

We lament the loss of off road ability, the plastic nature of the feel, the camp feel of the whole thing. .... Until then, I'm happy knowing that my 1150 Adv is the ultimate incarnation to date of the GS range, bar none. ...

I'll still have the most tonkeresque version though, no matter what ;)
Well said that man. :clap Don't get me wrong I want to like the 1200 Adv, but one of the main reasons I bought my 1150 Adventure, was because it was "Tonka" and I like to know that if I ever treated it badly (eg by dropping it in one of Fanums fords :o ), that its tough enough to take it.. and more.

Mmmmmm. will they do any other colours?

I can see from that artists impression that it is truely an off road biased machine due to the spoked wheels.

I wonder if they will do a lower seat option as well.

Tonker Toy

Interesting to see the enthusiasm for the 1200 GSA, especially among some of the R1200GS knockers

I'm beginning to gain an understanding of what it's about.

Tonker toys!!

Otherwise blathered about as 'road presence'. :D

I don't see that, in a real (uk) world the likely changes are going to enhance the 1200 except perhaps, and it's a big perhaps, in looks.

That is to say, heavier, taller, higher CoG.

Where it will win is in the title i.e. Adventurer, a bigger Tonker toy than yours.

Victims of media hype and fashion the lot of ya ;)

Got it one ...well said :clap :clap :clap

Launch of 1200GSA brought forward to the Birmingham Motorcycle show.

Where did you get that info from just out of interest?

Coz I was asking yet again yesterday at the dealers and according to them there has been no confrimed launch dates?

OK, I do accept that dealers are usually the last to know anything!

From our Morrad CEO here in RSA who seems to have very good connections with the Vaderland (remeber the 1200GS was launched here) ... and in fact had the ADV luggage system being developed by TT on his 1200 at our recent GAGSC - seems they agreed the system needed real adventure testing in suitable conditions :D He has also seen the R&D bike and sat on it at the factory a few months back ... I think I have posted on this previously, either here or certainly over at AdvRider.

I promise you he does - why? Because I told Dick Holder myself! :D
Dealers are most often the last to know some things ...
How can it be verified? ... let him enter it in his computer. :thumb

I will forsure be there tomorrow to give it a go :) :) .

Ps: Dick has resigned and will move to JHB in the new month.
