Hello everyone,

I am on of the unfortunate few stuck waiting until September for the 800GS and wondered if any of you have actually moved from a GSA to the 800GS, and what were your observations?

I currently ride a 2007 GSA.

Thanks,

Steve.

Swap shop

hi mate,
Just wondering why you are doing the swap? Or are you having both? The 800GS does look nice and I think it will be easier to throw around on the real rough stuff. But for some long haul trips on a variety of surfaces I think my/your GSA would be more capable and a lot more comfy. The reviews say the 800 has a. Narrow seat for the off road antics.

I've just test ridden both bikes extensively before making a purchase.

The 800 is a good bike but doesn't have the comfort and presence of the GSA and its not really any good for taking a passenger. I also think any luggage boxes fitted tend to dwarf the bike.
The 800 will top out around 120mph but it strains to get there after you get to 90.
For the above reasons I bought a 2008 GSA
I think you may be making a mistake but hey its your decision so its not my problem!:spitfire

I have a 1200GSA and a F650GS twin. The F650/800GS has a lovely sweet engine and a great exhaust note. The F650 with its 19-in front wheel is great on corners and is an ideal bike in traffic and on country roads. Fuel consumption is extraordinary, probably 15-20% better than the 1200.

However... you will curse whoever in BMW decided on such a tiny screen and you'll also need to buy handguards. The 1200GSA is much better planted for higher-speed cruising and can take larger capacity panniers (the wide under-seat tank on the 800GS restricts you to narrower panniers).
