I've been waiting for someone to fit the 17" front wheel from the RT to the GS. Looks like a lot of fun:thumby:

Bet that handles like a plate of shit:barf

My twin cam never handled shit and that had exactly the same set up as above infact it was more stable, less twitchy on the front end, tracked better.

They look rt12lc wheels and the mudguard is what the fit on the twin cam conversion ( purchase from nigel @ sandbar) i think it looks :thumb2 now to find some rt12 wheels .

An odd response.... Why do you imagine that.....?

Indeed. I've had 17" front wheels fitted to my last 3 x 1150's. Super sharp handling, allows fitment of better rubber and looks better (IMO). What's not to like?!:nenau Admittedly the handling on the standard WC GS is excellent even with a 19" front wheel so the 17" conversion is probably not required for most riders:augie:thumby:

BMW should enter a team of these in the Pikes Peak;)

If the front end is lower with a 17 inch , this will make the clearance lower , now not that i'm Rossi or anything , but i'm catching the pegs as it is at the moment,
any lower and ill be on my arse !!!!! The bike is brilliant as it is , okay it looks good but may have handling issues and also electronic miss matches with the incorrect wheels

Valid point but Van Harten know what they're doing. Top dutch BMW bods so the electrics will be sorted. I'd also hazard a guess that the geometry has been sorted via a shock spacer as it doesn't look too front heavy - unlike my 1150 bitsa!

Van Harten do make some nice looking alterations to their one-off bikes, retaining the essence of the original without too much unnecessary fuss.

If I were ever after a 'special' special, I would give them a look.

I'm sure there would be some improvement to handling but I think the bike looks better with a 19'' front wheel. Doesn't look right to me.

Have to agree with APE, it doesn't work for me (and I'm a huge fan of SM's and similar conversions).

I think it may be the amount of plastic around the front end - sort of looks like something's missing - where as IMO the 11 series and Hexheads look good with a tiny front wheel.................

I don't know about the wheels but I like the painted in-fill panel!! :thumb2

I concur with that.
By the way is this a BMW fill in panel albeit they are black as far as I know.

As to small wheel not sure it does it for me?

It's on the centre stand and the rear under is up off the ground. off the stand it'll line up and look better.

Ooooo yeah ... I went back to it after your comment and looked again ....

Mmmmmmmmmm ...... :idea

I quite like it, be nice to see how it looks off the c/stand and I'd love to give it a blast to see how she handles, I would imagine it would be very flickable!
