Question:
Anyone know how to get the brake caliper dowels out of the fork lowers reliably?
I got a set of 2nd hand alloys to use as my road wheels, so my original spokeys can have 'proper' knobblies on (well - as proper as possible given the sizes).
So then I thought, since I have to put discs on the alloys, why not go a bit bling? Galfer oversize waveys - nice. Who doesn't want 320mm rotors? 5% bigger swept radius - that'll turn me into a late braking demon!
(ummm - no)
The caliper spacers that come with the Galfer kit are a pretty loose fit - in and out of the caliper and fork leg no problem.
But the stock brake caliper dowels are almost a spring roll pin, but rolled closed, and tight as ****. I can't get them out without crunching them. So, every time I change the wheels for a muddy weekend, I end up throwing away the OEM dowels. That's another £15, which is 10 litres of dinosaurs this week - if you're reading this in February, maybe 7 litres.
Anyone had a similar problem and found a solution? Or anyone know a supplier of DIN7346 light duty slotted spring pins 12x10x13?
Thanks from the guy who should have just bought the 305s... sigh.
