Looking at some header options, seems they are specifically saying that the bike will require tuning for them. Also, seems Akra went with a replacement flap on their 1250 headers so I’m guessing they run as lean as ever and definitely need a tune with a full system, no baffles....?

I have a rapid bike Evo for the S1KR but won’t fit the GSA. Any advice on a decent fuel controller? Any self learning ones available?

Headers likely stainless mivv coupled to a ‘baffle out’ AC Schnitzer

P.s. new bike still not collected...:it’s getting some incredibly important frame sticker glued onto it Monday

I've been passively looking for decat headers too but the only people that seem to make versions with the flap are Akra, who are obviously very expensive. I'm looking for the flap because I imagine that it would run best without a tune, which I was trying to avoid. I've hear the horror stories about it running lean with a decat and no tune but I don't recall hearing of any actual engine failures as a result, I could be wrong. I think for the RapidBike you can just get a new harness and a software change and use it, which would help if it was running lean (and if you have the right version you could share before/after findings for those of us also looking :)).

Don't think I answered your questions really, but interested to find out if there are any other 'flapped' decat systems which I'm sure someone will point out in this thread if they're available. :)

I did run a 1200 with headers and open exhaust for 3 years without issue but seems the 1250 needs something! The reason for looking at Mivv is it has these little lugs on it where you attach the old valve cables (so nothing) so you don’t have to remove the motor. And they’re relatively inexpensive, about £450. Those plus a tune still cheaper than akra

Headers

I have titanium akrapovic headers with a black titanium akrapovic end can on my r1250gs exclusive
And it runs perfect without any thing done to it

Yes bike is smart, ecu will adapt in a very short time.

I have the Remus decat pipes without the flappy valve on my 1250 gsa with a lextek end pipe... I also have the Skrutnet servo buddy that sorts the ecu you out and keeps it all happy. Sounds amazing had no problems and love it :thumby:

Awesome, thanks for the feedback! I disconnected the valve on a previous 899 and there was a massive flat spot in the midrange so it's good to hear that removing it on the GS doesn't do the same or cause any issues without the cat being there.

My exhaust valve is starting to make a squeaking noisy when the ignition is turned on. Very annoying so thinking of also decatting.

Can you post some pics of you exhaust set up please, the lextek gallery is some what lacking, seems really cheap are they any good...love the look of the Mp4 megaphone.

Shes covered in a thin layer of crud at the moment but will be bathing her before i go away at the wkend so ill post some up for you:thumby:

To be honest i cant believe how good the quality is for the money...I was running a Remus can when i first got the bike which sounded nice but the finish started to come off the top, very odd never seen it before but nippy normans were spot on and give me a full refund. Long story short when me and a coulpe of pals were taking a piss on a scenic bend up the top of Scotland a 1250 gsa flew past us and the sound was bloody lovely...so we jumped on the bikes chased them down as i was that curious on what pipe he had on.
Got talking to the bloke and he had the lextek pipe, great looking pipe nice welds and half the price of the Remus...everyones a winner :friday

That would be great look forward to seeing her all shiny and ready to go out...:beerjug:

Having fitted an AC Schnitzer exhaust and removing the flap cables, I don't think i need the headers on this one! sounds great.

Luggage racks in the way a bit but you get the idea
