1250 Fairing on 1200 - Replacing the unclean-able screen

Here's a side-by-side of the original and the new.

And installed on the bike with my camera mount fitted over it. I don't think the camera mount would work with the Touratech part.

Ur right the touratech part wouldnt work with the camera mount, you cant see in my picture but the touratech part comes alot more forward over the edge of the light, creating like a peak over the light.

On order, to collect next week. Cost £38.

May be slightly OT.

I may appreciate the idea of a simpler solution. However, as it only takes two minutes to undo the two screws to unhook the windscreen I struggle to see why bother.

Why struggle, its the individuals choice as to whether you like something or not, life would be boring if we was all the same

Imo that lower clear plastic piece was a pain in the arse to clean and to be fare looked pointless in "clear plastic", why not just make it black so it ties in like the other options available, which is obviously why theyve changed on the later bikes i would of thought.

Not when you have a camera mount attached over the top it doesn't!

I thought everyone got a 10% discount on all parts and accessories!? I always have, and the same at NoG. Not a big deal on a cheap part I know but makes a big difference on an expensive part or a helmet or suit! be sure to ask for it next time.:thumb

I'm not sure what camera mount you refer to. But at least the camera mount shown in posts above will probably not affect the removal of the windscreen. When I say windscreen, I refer to the main windscreen which is fastened to the frame by two screws…

Have a look at this video

I bought the one piece replacing part, because I find the clear plastic subscreen ugly. I had that replaced by a tinted version from Puig, but I had to adjust the mounting holes of it to make it fit and the color is not the same as the oem tinted screen.

But this whole thread is talking about the sub-screen, not the main windscreen! The main screen can be cleaned easily without removing it!

I understand, but the post is about the uncleanable screen.
My point is, the uncleanable screen is far from uncleanable. If you remove the windscreen, you are able to clean the uncleanable screen with ease.

As for wanting a different design for the looks of it is a different matter. But if the motivation for a change is cleaning only, which the post header suggest, I'm simply offering advise on how to make the uncleanable cleanable. :beerjug: (besides, even if changing the hidden screen to a different design it will become just as dirty as before)

Sorry I think you are missing the point. As the standard sub-screen is clear plastic, it gets dirty on the back which shows on the front. Taking off the windscreen doesn't make cleaning the back of the sub screen much easier. As the replacement is solid black plastic, you only have to worry about the front!

As someone who commutes all year round in all weather, its well worth the change IMO!
