I bought a set of OEM frame guards and before fitting them I would appreciate the input of those who have them fitted to their bikes:
On the underside of the guards there are adhesive strips where the guard touches the frame, where the guards are 'sculpted' for the rubber straps that go around the guard and frame - does everyone actually stick the guards to the frame using the adhesive strips or just use them as padding and rely on the rubber straps to secure them?

Hi, i just used the rubber straps - nothing else.
They fit a treat and no issues.

I'm a bit ocd, so I put tesa tape around the frame where my ties go, including mudsling etc. So I'd leave the stickies on (attached to the guards only).

I found that the original rubber bands got very worn on my set, so have substituted for ties now. Anybody know if the bands can be bought separately?

Yes they can few quid each. When yoou attach them put the 'buttons' on the inside of the frame otherwise they can catch your boots/clothing and ping off

Thanks guys, I think that's the way I'll be going :thumb

I left the sticky pads on too, but didn’t take the adhesive strip off. Had the frame powder coated, and didn’t want to cause any wear there again, as the frames rust like buggery if chipped. Easy to take off once in a while to clean any road grit out.
