I'm considering cancelling my GS1300 order and opting for a new GSA Lowered version, some great deals available at the moment, could anyone tell me if you have to have the low seat too with the lowered version as I'm concerned about the comfort aspect, I'm used to a standard height/seat 1250 GS.
I also prefer the vario top box could the rack be fitted to allow me to use one and just use the GSA panniers when needed.I only use panniers once or twice a year so my last question is can you remove the frames easily ?Cheers

According to the configurator you can opt for the low suspension @£215 without having to have the low seat which is a nil cost option, but you have to have the ESA

I have a lowered GSA. I bought it with the standard seat but had an inch taken out of it so I could ,just, flat foot. It all depends on your inside leg measurement not your height.
If you get a lowered bike with the standard seat its the same as sitting on a standard bike with the standard seat.

Not sure on the seat question. But for the topbox it's a separate grab rail/top box mount to the zimmer frame for panniers, they are removed separately. I'm sure you could use a standard GS grab rail/rack with the Vario adapter plate. And still have the zimmer frame. The zimmer frame is removed by just removing the 6 screws within 10 mins.

I had a low suspension 1250GSA Rallye with a single low Rallye seat. I'm 5'9 and could easily flat-foot the bike. Just watch your toes when cornering enthusiastically as I found mine frequently scraped the road. I had the BMW panniers on previous bikes but Bumots on the last one. I found them vastly superior in quality and design.

Its a simplistic explanation (from a simple guy) but the lowered GSA is basically just a normal GSA fitted with GS shocks, centre stand and side stand, so if you were happy with a GS with standard height seat you should be okay with the lower GSA and standard seat. In respect of using the vario top box on the GSA, this is feasible as the rear end is the same on the GS/GSA, a way to achieve this could be to offer to swap your GSA rack with a GS owner on here. I have myself used the GSA rack/top box panniers on a GS, as I prefer the metal boxes.

Good choice, didn't get as far as ordering the 1300 and went straight in for a lowered 1250 GSA ,as ive said before, you have to open the garage and be happy with what you see, I just don't like the looks of the 1300, which is a personal choice and no offence if ya get one. Don't hold ya breath though I ordered mine in January and still not landed......
The configurator you can spec a standard height seat, what I don't like is the rear seat height so if you go for a low front and ya don't want the gapping hole between the front and rear seats spec the lower passenger seat.
Enjoy what ever you go for.

So picked up the bike on Monday from Bristol, had a good look around the 1300 vs the 1250 GSA, more than happy with my choice, the size was firkin huge made even worse with the slight tinge of a hang over but heaho. Made it back, first 50 miles complete, now for the run in.....
Standard seat in the lowest position is pretty good for me, still bit of an issue with the new knees getting on and off but physio yesterday reckons just crack on its just a time to heal thing. 0 pain whilst riding (y)
Panniers already tucked up in the garage, you all know what one looks like but here's mine

Edit: one thing that's very poor is the handover pack from BMW, shoddy as shit, bit of plastic in a Dick Lovett case and the recipes , Small point but every other new bike ive had its a proper presentation folder.
Minor point but just handed over a boat load of cash for a premium bike , just expected more, thankfully the bike is fantastic and no issues with the dealers, good as gold and a follow up phone call from them to boot today !!!!

That`s what i thought too when i picked mine up.
The crappy plastic folder that holds the manual/docs was an embarrassment and just shows us what BMW think of us, i`ve had nicer when buying a pair of shoes.
If it wasn`t for the nice fabric Bahnstormer documents case the impression i would of got would have been very poor for a supposed premier quality product. It`s all about the presentation, isn`t it?
If you buy a prestige wristwatch for example you get a nice wooden box and multiple outer boxes, polishing cloths etc etc, it`s one of the things that give you at least the impression that what you are laying down all that wedge for is worth it.
BMW give us a plastic bag. Says it all.

ps. recipes?

I know what you mean. I too thought exactly the same when I got my pack from Roy Pidcock. Very tacky and cheap for a 20k plus bike, had better with every bike I've ever bought new that cost much less.

The cheapo plastic wallet doesn't bother me TBH as I just use it to keep it in the safe and use it to keep the documents together for the bike. The paper used for the Owners manual for my RS in piss poor quality though, it's like a copy of the Watchtower the Jehovah Witnesses shove through your letterbox, which is fine for that purpose but hardly suitable for a bike that's supposed to last and that contains the service record dealer stamps to show you've had it serviced. Mind you that stays in the drawer too in it's own cheapo plastic wallet

Ye but if you attend Kingdon Hall every week you won't need a manual coz god'll sort it:D

Not cool enough , the 1300 is by far a better bike . No need for a crazy frog lowered seat , more power , better brakes , better handling , better electronics , just a better package .

Brakes are so good that the 1300 wears through a set of pads every 2 hours
