Got some quotes today for the new 1250 GS TE. Old 1200 cost me £232 last year. Was just as well that I was sitting down. CN quoted me an outrageous £751 as “very few companies want to offer insurance on the 1250”, what a load of bollocks! 5 minutes on GoCompare and I am £350 better off. Well done CN, not!

I struggled to get insurance for a new 1200 GSA TB when "upgrading" from a white 1200 GSA TE... WTF??? Got there in the end but it was a bleddy pain :(

I just made a change to my policy on my 1200 GS TE which I am trading in, to cover the 1250 GS TE I pick up on Friday. However, this policy expires on the 15th, so I've been looking around. The renewal from Wicked Quotes is about £370 including legal cover, which to be fair is not much more than last year for the 1200 GS. I also have a quote from Bennetts, who I left last time due to an unacceptably high renewal, for almost exactly the same amount. I have also had online quotes for comparable cover for about £100 less from both Hastings and Lexham - does anybody have experience with these two?

Been with Hastings last few years. Good value premiums but never had any claims so cannot comment on that side of things. Just insured new 1250 @ £270 fully comp 9+ yrs NCB. My Vfr800 at same company different policy also 9+ NCB £179.

I've been with Hastings for last couple of years and had no problems. Renewal price was better than price comparison site. I haven't made a claim with them but found them pretty good to deal with so far.
Renewal due in April so wait and see :thumb2

I had bad experience with Hasting when I bought my new 1250gs last year they couldn't quote for changing my policy from my 1200gs as the 1250 "wasn't listed on the system" and they didn't know when it would be!. I went with Laxham who were very helpful. Hastings wouldn't give any refund of my old policy as it had been in force for just over 6 months and that was in their terms that there was no refund after 6 months. So even though they couldn't quote on the 1250 they kept the money for the old cancelled policy. Even said they wouldn't charge me a cancellation fee!! -- that was good of them! :-) .

Carol Nash quoted me nearly double the price i paid for fully comp from Bennets

I'd been with Carole Nash for 13 years but they (almost) doubled what Bemoto offered (after a week of chasing them - they kept saying they'd phone back by end of day). Said the bike (R1250GS TE) was too expensive. Then charged me £50 cancelling policy.

I have just been quoted £245 fully comp from Bennett's for 2019 BMW R1250 GSA Exclusive, 5000 miles per year, 53 years old riding+18 years, full 15+ no claims or convictions this is just in theory at the moment as insurance not due till 17th April. Just looking as I recently bought 1250 and Bikesure charged me £30 fee for mid term change as I was changing from multi-bike policy (2 bikes) to a single bike policy I am going to wait till 18th and search again Bennett's did cover everything though breakdown, helmet and leather cover, European riding, Pillion, Legal cover and protected no claims. Excess was sensible too at £275

Never know might get it cheaper yet though I don't think that's a bad price. There did seem to be lots of head scratching going on at Bikesure and in the end they decided that they were only going to charge me £30 for a mid term policy adjustment! Well I hope the enjoy their £30 as it will be their last.

CN wont be getting my business at renewal time next month, no matter what they come up with. They manage to sour every encounter I have with them, and it's usually their broker fees. Thieving cnuts, IMHO. They appear to have lost sight of how to treat the customer.

I've just bought the first car policy I've had for 35 years last week, as I'm dropping the company car. I was quoted some truly eyewatering premiums - with one exception of £650, all in the range £900 - £2000. Martin Lewis' site said use the price comparison sites but go direct to Direct Line and Aviva. DL silly prices, but Aviva truly excelled. Have 5 years NCD introduction, legal assistance, courtesy car, foreign travel, etc. £335. They got me. They do bikes too...

BTW, neither Carole Nash or BeMoto would insure my Nav6. Whatever happened to the bike - stolen, crashed, crashed into, they'd not cover it. The mounting they would do as that came with the bike (I got the Nav6 via my dealer as part of the purchase but that makes no difference).
So if something did happen to the bike and the Nav6 remained operational, I'd be taking it off.

Shouldn't have to but check your household contents insurance. Could be covered in valuables away from home.
