1250 Launch live now on facebook , BMW Motorrad

Why are you directing that to me?

You're agreeing with the bloke who thinks that launches don't matter and that they don't have an impact on sales.

You might think that's true, but you'd be wrong. Imagine they'll sell some though so we can all sleep soundly. :aidan

Whatever.....guess you're the type who just likes to have a dig at everyone.

No dig mate. Just tired out banter. No point making waves in life, one day you end up being the one that drowns.

Launching something as big as a new GS though...its a big deal and to say it's not important is frankly rubbish. Of course it's the journo test rides and TubeYou clips we all want to see ahead of a test ride. I'd be a GSA man if anything though, so my interest seems a long way off just now.

Well, if the sale goes down we'll tip them about your knowledge so you can set them straight. :beerjug:

Do people really buy a bike based on corporate marketing and what paid by the manufacturer journalists say? That rag MCN did a comparison of the R1200RS and sprint GT and came to the conclusion that although the RS was more modern, it’s not a patch on the GS. Absolute rubbish! This new 1250 looks OK (apart from that hideous Akra can), and I’m sure the engine will have more poke and hopefully smoothness at low revs, but aside from more items as standard (eg LED Headlamp, Hill Start Control and TFT), and re new brake system, not much has really changed. If you’re looking to upgrade, great, if you’ve got a 2018 GS then there’s no reason to feel disappointed. I’ve chosen a bike on how it rides - tbh the launch is more for journalists and dealers. It’s not as if it’s some Hollywood celeb flogging perfume for Christmas, is it?

Im just happy that (fingers crossed) all the bits like panniers, pegs, mudsling etc will
All transfer accross. I hope my Remus can would go across too. I think this is the longest ive had panniers last - three bikes.

It’s on the U.K. BMW configurator. Exclusive is £16,500 and Rallye TE £16,975, both without chrome exhaust or emergency call (weird options to leave out)

Both of those I’m happy they have left out. My chrome exhausts always look flakey after a year. I wish they would build an alarm tracker as part of the bike so that it can’t be removed without removing the ECUs

No-brainer innit. At least have an embedded unit as an optional extra.

Imagine the crimbo's would find a way around that in 5 minutes though.

Heard from dealer today that price wise the new 1250 will be approx £500 more that the current equivalent.

Its £1000. Standard entry 1200GS its £12400, new Standard entry 1250GS its £13400. Add heated grips and cruise control and it goes up to £14065:augie. Mine (1200GS Standard) with the same spec was £12250 :thumb2 So it's more like £1500 difference.
