Morning all. I’ve just fitted a Shad topbox to my 1250GS, using the Shad brackets, but it’s encroaching over the back of pillion seat. Luckily my usual pillion (daughter) isn’t too big so it’s ok atm but for an adult I think it’d be an issue. I could remove the pads but would rather not.

Anyone come across this and got a simple solution? I’d rather not have to go down the road of replacing an otherwise perfect (for my needs) box.

Yours appear much the same as the images from SHAD .............. https://shad.co.uk/products/bmw-r1250-gs-shad-top-box-fitting-kit-w0gs13st

Strange, but the GSA kit seems to get it about right.

Hopefully others will direct experience will respond. It's a problem I have come across previously on various other bikes - sometimes I fashioned an intermediate plate; other times I was able to twiddle the bracketry around just to find that extra 3 or 4 cm.

I had the same issue.Position of the box left my wife very cramped.Ended up making up my own plate and moving the top box plate back 20mm

Not shad but I had similar with Givi box on my GS. When I swapped to a GSA the adaptor plate sits the box further back. Significantly increased rider/ pillion space.

I have a SHA40 attached to mine, and also felt the standard 'position' the did cramp the pillion seat slightly. I brought a new fixing set for the top plate (bit the box attaches too, SKU: D1B40BOR) and these have some brackets in that enabled me to move the top plate back a bit which. Wife has not ridden on the back yet since doing this, but I'm pretty sure it'll make a big difference.

I'll try an post some photos tonight when I get home.

Pete
