Fellow UKGSers,

My 2018 GSA was in for its 10,000-mile service today. Quite painful on the old wallet. I was given a 2020 1250GS for the day. Loved the engine for such a small increase in bhp the difference (at least the way I ride was quite substantial).

However, that's the reason for this post. I noticed once I had paired my iPhone and headset that there is a new drop-down menu from the music screen, which gives playlist options. My 2018 TFT does not have this. Is it a software upgrade or hardware specific for the 1250s?

Also on the Connected app when riding the 1250 records lean angle, G forces for breaking and acceleration. Its quite a cool feature but when I jumped back on my 2018, the features are shown but greyed out. Again is this a software upgrade or 1250 hardware?

Advice appreaciated.

My 2018 GSA had a pretty huge firmware update when it was in for a 6k service and I do have the G / Lean Angle etc etc, but only after the software update.

Mine had the update because the TFT would lose the connection to my Cardo randomly after shutting off the ignition meaning I needed to re-pair it. Turns out I had ancient firmware, so now no more Bluetooth drops, and this telemetry stuff is now available.

Thanks Fluffmeister

I have just checked my software version 001_011_081. Im guessing its quite out of date now.

That's a bit off surely. BMW take a fortune in service costs but they can't be bothered to check & update the bike's computer firmware. I would be putting a flea in someone's ear :blagblah

I've had the same experience today. Bike just back from service and software hasn't been updated, feckin fuming and i've let them know im not happy. Awaiting a response.:mad:

My update took over 3 hours so maybe dealers are reluctant to tie up the kit for 3 hours or more per bike. Not defending dealers in anyway, as it’s something that should be done on a routine service.

WTF is taking 3 hours though, is the mothership on a 56k modem

Just spoke with the dealer. Updates are not listed as required only optional unless there is a fault with the system. Price to update £45. Time taken could be between 30 mins and 6 hours which they will not know until its plugged in.

Something of a con, when you consider the price of the bikes. Are you having problems with Bluetooth connectivity and random drop's ......nudge......wink.....

Yes, really tests your loyalty to the badge :blast
