1250GS vibration?

To be honest they all come to the conclusion it was a rough one.always felt a different vibration to what I was used to,very harsh like metal grating.Ive had 8 of these thing so new what they felt like.my local dealer was fantastic about it and so was BMW uk.Cannot talk more highly for both and thats why I stay with them.

When the dealer said it was a rough one, did they also say effectively that there's nothing we can do, just accept it etc?

I'm hoping they fixed something or even replaced the bike (a long shot I know)

Buzziness/vibes, engine speed related sounds like the throttle bodies could be out of sync slightly. Some have reported success from fitting alternative bar end weights & grip puppies but, to my mind, this really shouldn't be necessary on a brand new bike.

So I think you need to have your dealer hook the bike up to their computer (if/when they reopen) or at least get access to a GS911, to check the throttle valve calibration on the 1250 motor. Maybe someone will chime in with some alternative ideas but, as I understand it, the days of balancing with vacuum gauges & bit of tweaking with a screwdriver seem to have passed.

Tried demo bike and did notice vibes through bars, pegs and seat, so No new bike I'll stick with my 16 plate.

My 16 plate was the same as my 1250 18 plate , smooth but slower . No difference engine vibe wise tho , they all have the same traits . How a shift cam can altered the existing and same drive train etc is a mystery to me .

I’m not having this. The GS does not vibrate. All those GS riders that rode the S1000XR said so.

No they got BMW uk involved and someone come down and road it.I was always respectful to all involved and went through the process.it took in all a few months and took a few days holiday to meet up but it was worth it.

Sorry Jim, I'm still not clear. Does your 1250 still vibrate at all? Or is it all ok now etc?

I had the bike replace under warranty and so far I have only covered 300 miles.I have noticed this is a lot better but only time will tell.I did get some foot peg rubber inserts to see if they help and feel so far little vibration comes from them.I do think that the 1250 has more of a mechanical feel to it than the old 1200 but won't except on what is a tourer a bike that used to make my right hand side numb after extended periods in the saddle.

Thanks Jim. Getting your bike replaced under warranty is quite a result. At least now I know there is precedent for it should it come to that.

Quick update re the vibes...

Had the service done and asked the dealer to look into the vibration etc mentioned in earlier posts.

Nothing found to be wrong, couldn't be faulted etc.

I did take out their demo bike just to compare etc. Well, just the same as my bike pretty much.

Conclusion: unless I've totally lost it then the the 1250 does have more in the way of tingling/vibration than my previous 1200. Anyway, something to either get used to or improves as the mileage goes up, we'll see I guess.

Mine is silky smooth....it's just ace!

Check your wheel balance, fronts and rears.

I wouldn’t say my 1250 is silky Smith, but it was a noticeable improvement on my 1200

I’d forgotten how smooth my 1250 is but i’ve come back from a wee bimble of around 100 miles and its smoother than a smooth thing.
