I don't quite get it. If the X-Heads fits the OEM bars and the Wunderlich bars, then go for one of them. Both bars are fine. What is the problem?
As for removing the cylinder head cover and change sparkplugs without removing the bars: You don't want to do that. It's a pain.
It takes less than 5 min to remove the bar for each side, and checking valve clearance is done in half the time compared to doing the same with the bars in place.
I had X-heads on my 1200 GSA and have ordered them for my 1250.
Compared to the alternativs I think they look the best. Also, if you drop the bike and something hits that makes the X-head or its equivalent do their job, the outer surface of the X-head is slightly soft, and you simply wipe off the dirt. Anything in metal or CF will be scratched.
As for 3 or 4 points bars, I prefer the 3 - point bars. This makes the bar flex slightly, absorbing the shock.
Personally I prefer the BMW bars. They are very sturdy built, and if they bend, the crash will surely be an insurance case where the bars will be changed anyway. And the fact that the bar got bent means it has absorbed shock and protected the bike.
Wanting a 4-point crash bar is a bit like having a car where the front do not absorb shock in a collision.
My 2c.
