1250GSA Seats

Mornin all, and thank you @icedfusion for trying to decipher my ramblings, I accept you cant change physical distances between fixed points (pegs and seat) but I was merely trying to answer the OP's question (shock horror) and referenced a check/change I had made for the better.

I agree @snerkler it makes no rational sense, so like electricity and refrigeration, I just press the 'Believe' button to aid understanding.

Another comfort improvement is a pair shorts used following a @Lord Snooty recommendation ( Post #25 here )

Folks, I'm getting old and cranky. I know, join the club.

My lower back gets very stiff and sore when I'm riding for long durations (4+ hours). I have a 1250 GS Adventure (2023) with the standard OEM seat.

I've looked at so many options - Wunderlich Aktivkomfort, Touratech Comfort, Sargent, Topsellerie delux seat ..... but I'd like comments, before I throw out money on these.

I just have a pain in my a .... coccyx ... when riding for a long time.

I do also ride two up, so need to make sure whatever I get, I can also get for my pillion. She'd kill me if I didn't.

All advice welcome.
I’m riding 11 hours to work every couple of weeks on the GSA, I’ve tried numerous seats and what has worked for me is the Wunderlik active and a cool cover over the top.
Also worth considering what you are riding in.
If I’m wearing leathers I find my arse needs a break after a couple of hours.
If I ride in my all weather kit I’m fine for the whole duration.
I stop three times for fuel and leg stretch .
My biggest issue was my lower back aching after several hours but since swapping seats it’s been fine, however I did also put on some bar risers /sweep backs so that could have helped.
Seats are like tyres and helmet’s ,personal choice the issue is have to try a few.

I do some very long journeys and have tried a number of options. I went with the Wunderlich with a sheepskin over it. It’s a lot wider than stock so standing on the pegs pushes your knees out a bit but, the comfort is superior. I’m closer to 60 than 50 and also feel the discomfort on long slogs but, I recently did Ouistreham to Toulon (en route to Corsica) in one go and, although it wasn’t ache free, it wasn’t as unpleasant as I expected. They do heated options for both pilot and pillion but the cost isn’t cheap.

I just had to look where that is and wow

I am now going to buy the Wunderlich after reading this because this is the kind of real test I was looking for.

I doubt you’ll be disappointed. I do swap the seat back to the original when buzzing round town as I find it a bit better in traffic but, on long rinds, it’s faultless.
Cheers, enjoy.
