I'm in the middle of continued research to buy a 1250 GS in the coming weeks/months. I've narrowed my desire down to either a lowered chassis Adventure or a standard GS.

I was window shopping at Bahnstormer, Alton this weekend and their 1250 stock is turning over fast.

This post is to let any would-be sellers know that they're after 1250s and actively opening direct buying offers for used stock, no part exchange necessary. According to one of the sales guys, as a result, on Saturday they put out 35 offers to interested owners requesting valuations.

It seems I'm not the only one desiring one of these lovely bikes, which can only be good news for owners wanting to move one on.

I would normally change my BMW every 3 to 4 years , my current 2022 model R1250GSA is staying in the garage for the moment until I see if the wife will go touring again .

The current BMW lineup contains nothing that I actually want to own or can afford to buy .

Have bought a used MG Stelvio instead and still have the R1150GS .

I know last time I was up at Dalkeith they had shown quite a few 1250's in stock but they all of them had sold signs on their screens, also seeing that very few 1250's are hanging around in non BMW dealers showrooms

It`s not the first time i`ve had an email from Bahnstormer like this;

"We’re currently looking for quality used bikes, especially BMW R 1250 GS, GSA, RT and RS models.

If you’re thinking about selling your motorcycle and it’s in great condition with a full BMW service history, we’d love to hear from you. We offer competitive prices, can handle finance clearance, and arrange collection for your convenience. Once we’ve agreed on a value, we’ll transfer payment promptly.

Simply click the button below to share your bike’s details - please include any extras, note any damage, and attach a few recent photos."

1250`s, last of the `proper` GS`s!!😜

I’ve been contacted by Bahnstormer as well, I’ve got a 2021 R1250GS and have no intention of parting with it!
It’s a funny situation where something new is out and you have no interest in buying it, I love my 1250 and just don’t want a 1300.
That’s before you even consider the huge cost to change.
I’ve made many mods and it’s now just as I want it - if I sell it I’m just giving a fantastic bike to someone else at great cost to myself.

I was tempted to contact them and see what they will offer me for my 1250 GSA with full luggage and a ton of extras fitted, but due to having surgery I haven't had it serviced by them this year.
I have bought all the genuine BMW parts to do the service myself but haven't got around to it yet (though I have turned the nag screen service warning off by resetting it with my GS911). They could easily service it themselves and update the mothership to keep it recorded as fully serviced.

Not surprised .
The 1300GSA is obviously not selling well, outsold most months by the older 1300GS, and the biggest selling adventure bike in October was Chinese , FFS.
Squid won’t be happy 🤡

A quality approved used 1250GSA with used bike warranty is an affordable option for many.

A brand new 1300GSA is quite an investment (especially if you'd rather own outright than rent on a PCP style deal.)

I got to say I am not surprised. The only folk I hear really raving about them are YouTubers. Anyone coming off a 1200/1250 I'm hearing very mixed reports.
Having tried the 1300 myself its a great bike, but I feel a bit too much of a departure. It doesn't have that "turn back and look at me" factor, the 1200/1250 has :)

Just put my 1250 GSA up for sale (nothing wrong with the bike) - we emigrating so needs to go :)

Guess I’m an exception then

The 1200 was a fantastic bike, but the 1300 is better in almost every aspect, in some ways a lot better

It’s a lot sportier, maybe that puts some people off, but I like it, and the new suspension is a revelation 2 up

I test rode a 1300 GSA a while back but just preferred my 1250. I think the jump from 1200 to 1300 is worth it, not so much 1250 to 1300..

Well I have two 1250s, and I do like them enough to wait and see what comes up next after the fallout from the 1300s. I have a, bought new 22 RS and a second hand 2019 GS that came loaded with farkles. I don't want to get rid of the RS, it's my fav and I would lose thousands selling it now. The GS I could still get a similar price for but it is handy for sure, very agrarian. And I do like the traditional tubular frames and looks of the 1250s.
I kind of had a hunch that this might happen, a run on the 1250s .... Turns out to be a hell of a bike to try to improve on .....

I went and checked BMW of Denver to see what they have around right now. It's amazing to see how many bikes they seem to move. Back when the 1300s came out they had loads and loads of 1250 GS/GSA. I really wondered how they were going to get rid of all those but today they do have quite a few 25 1300s left around and fair bunch of 26's but only ONE second hand 1250 and they want a fair amount for it. wow
I have also kept an eye on the used market around town as there are a few used bike dealers and craigslist. At this moment very few 1250s of any kind. I bought my GS last feb for a really decent price imo especially as she is decked out in farkles. Some I have kept a watch on the market to see if that really was a good deal. And I've seen very few deals as good, if any. 1250s are getting scarce, here too ....

1300 isn't my kind of bike, too bulky and not traditional looking.
I enjoyed my 1250 GSA but hoped for a Lighter boxer.
Then one landed.
However, the demand for used 1250s just proves what a great design they are.
Can't ever, ever, ever see that happening with a Chinese bike can you.

Personal preference but I think the standard 1300 (not the GSA ) is a much better looking bike than the water cooled 1200/1250's, which looked far too fussy to me. When I rode the 1300 I thought it had a much better dynamic than the outgoing model. I'm not tempted to buy one though (unless one of my current bikes comes to an untimely end)

I actually like the 1300 GS and from the perspective of someone that is completely new to riding, and the boxer, and the GS, I don't have any attachments to the original character and would prefer as many aids, gizmos, tech and refinement as I can get.

I would definitely not eliminate buying a 1300 GS but would not buy new, only because of losses and any rush attached to early model releases.

I have started seeing some use appear in the market at below 1250 used prices.

I suspect, by next summer the used market for 1300s will be growing, more 1250s will be appearing and used prices will reflect.

As it stands I'm still in the market for:

Standard height 1250 GS, or
Lowered chassis 1250 adventure
FSH
<15,000 miles
Full luggage

If it's from this forum Denali aux light system and aftermarket exhaust might be nice to have.

If it's from a dealer, approved used with 2yr warranty is a must have.

From research against this shopping list, this opens up bikes from MY21-23 and 17x very good approved used can be had from £12.5k.

The forum seems pricier but I expect that's because people have spent lots of money and time adding expensive bits to make these bikes personal to them.
